Default First time at the 1/4 Mile Drag Stip this year

So, I went to the drag strip in Rockingham NC today to test my stock 2010 IS 350 out for the new year. It was a sunny day, about 77-79 degrees with a slight head/left cross wind. It started getting warmer at the third pass. Here are my results:

1st Pass: Lost to a Charger SRT-8 (13.4 @ 105)

60' 2.09
1/8 8.83
MPH 81.73
1/4 13.678
MPH 100.16

We were tied until the very end. The guy actually had a passenger, but was pulling the SAME TIMES with or without the passenger all day. Crazy!

2nd Pass: Beat a G35 (14.8 @ 95)

60' 2.05
1/8 8.78
MPH 82.40
1/4 13.639
MPH 100.05

3rd Pass: Beat a 240 (15.9 @ 86)

60' 2.04
1/8 8.84
MPH 80.63
1/4 13.731
MPH 99.87

4th Pass: Beat a Civic? (15.2 @ 92)

60' 2.05
1/8 8.82
MPH 81.70
1/4 13.714
MPH 98.92

5th Pass: Beat an older turbo Integra (14.0 @ 113)

60' 2.07
1/8 8.86
MPH 80.53
1/4 13.748
MPH 100.25

My times were pretty normal. I'm not sure why I was trapping so low. Normally I'm around 13.7 @ 101-102. The track was in absolutely perfect condition. They actually ran two jet-cars. One ran a 5.6 @ 265 MPH and the other a 5.8 @ 242

the 09-11's are a little slower than 06-08's according the Lexus brochures.

what tire pressure are you running? are you revving to 1300-1400 rpm's while holding the brake then taking off?

No they're not.

If you want to go by Lexus brochures, it's actually exactly the opposite. The 09-11 are rated at 0 to 60 in 5.3 while the 06-08 are rated at 0 to 60 in 5.6.

However, don't fret, because even that is incorrect. In reality, all models have exactly identical performance. The 09-11 aren't faster than the 06-08 despite brochure times.

I took the new car to the strip this weekend as well. Best run of the day was an 8.78. Don't remember the MPH because they weren't printing slips. Just glad the car got into the 8.7 range. BTW I'm running the bridgestones at dealer pressure, whatever they gave it to me at on Monday.

It was good meeting you yesterday at the track! Very clean car.

Here is some more useful data from Rockingham I recorded yesterday also.

Its great to have a "stock" IS350 run also. It gives a great baseline to compare.

With better air temps (DA) we could both knock 0.3 tenths off the 1/4 easy......

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are all exactly the same.

I have stock tire pressure, and yes, I was revving and braking, then releasing. My 60 foot times are decent. I think 13.6 for a stock IS350 is perfectly good. Unless someone knows differently

It was great seeing you again. Very cool thread/video. I'm going to subscribe. Yeah, I'd definitely like to be in the low 13's. I think a couple people at the track thought I was you. They kept asking me if I was spraying. I was like, uhhh??? No... I'm just glad I was able to hang with that SRT-8 until the very end. I thought they were in another category of fast. Let me know when you are headed back to the track.

I'm heading to the track soon, can someone post with the best launching technique, e.g. rev to 1300 with left foot on brake right foot on gas, turn traction control off (pedal dance) or leave on, etc.

Thanks.

Keep the ECT to normal and let the car shift for you and turn off the traction control.

I believe you have to brake torque to around 1500 RPM. When tree hits green light, release brake and floor it like a mad man.

Sounds easy enough, do most people 'burn out' before launching or just launch normal keeping there tires in relative good condition?

Street tires do not do well if you do a burnout with them, you should skip the water box if you can. A quick burn out. Like less then a full spin can be done to clean the tire, you can do this once every 5 runs, don't do it too much or you will loose grip on street tires

In my G I turn off VDC hold the brake and the gas at 2k( I can go up to2.8) and when the light before green lights up let go of the brake. I am in tiptronic mode as it is faster for my car then D

OP your track is nuts, you should never be paired with anything that's that fast, especially a jet car. God forbid it rolls onto your side and you get into an accident with it

I think he meant he saw the two race and didn't race against it.
