Default Custom Mount for V1 Concealed Display

Just thought I'd share a couple pics of my most recent mod After building my M60D inspired custom iPod center console mount I've been itching to do some more "custom" work to put my own personal touches on the car. For those of you who aren't aware, Valentine 1 makes a concealed display for their detector which when connected blacks out the display on the main unit/detector and allows you to mount the display in a more concealed location making it less or invisible to other drivers while still easy for you. In addition it brings the mute/mode selector button closer to the driver as well. I've been looking for something to re-purpose the ashtray in our cars for a while now and tonight I finally found it.

Pics of the mount before and after being wrapped in black suede. The top pic shows the back of the mount and the cut-out is to route the power/signal wire. I made the unit fit like a glove so this was the only option to help conceal the wires. The top of the mount was cut like this intentionally to maintain the ability to mount/dismount the unit and give the illusion that it's "floating" when in place

Pics of the unit in place and with the shifter in Park and Drive

I appreciate it but no apology necessary. Actually I kinda like that others shared their personal creations here as well. It's relevant to the topic and gives anyone interested or thinking of making their own a single place to see multiple ideas/possibilities so it's all good

So for those interested...I finally took some time to revisit my original idea for mounting & concealing the concealed display and tonight I made some progress Below is a link to a quick video of my test-fit and showing exactly how the unit can/will be used - pretty stoked!

Very nice! Is there a write-up or how-to for how to do this?

No, but you'd better be at the top of the food chain for modding if you're going to try it.

Thanks but no thanks haha 1) I didn't just spend the time & effort making the one I just did to up and move on to the next and 2) while I can appreciate the unique and stealth look of the mirror-mod I like to think mine is just as unique as well as stealth. Not to mention, much to your point, I'm nowhere near comfortable with the thought/idea of cracking my mirror and the V1 display to make something like that work. That's def a job I'd take to a shop and I'd have to really want something I couldn't do for that to happen.
