Thanks Joe, based on my measurements, I was almost positive that was the case. I'll be replacing both my and my wife's batteries in December. A Group 24 and a Group 24F.

I am planning to get the optima red top also and called a local store, they said they have the optima red top group 75/25 battery in stock.

the tech at the store told me that this battery will fit fine. The only difference is that this group number battery has terminals both on top and side. Which is the only difference in the different group number. I wanted to make sure if this will be ok before i go out and get it, cause on optima's website they only list the group 25 battery as an option on the ISF and does not even mention the 75/25 battery.

Can anyone please confirm this? Also is $223 installed with tax the normal going price for this battery? It is actually alot more than I was expecting for a battery.

 

The link below has the same part # directly associated with our car from optima's website. Looks like it can be had for $142 with free shipping! Install of a new battery is pretty easy so no need to pay someone to do it. I would have gotten this had I known I could get it for $142, I thought it would be closer to $200 realm.



Some confirmation of the 75/25 battery would be good though. I looked up that 75/25 battery on amazon and it says it does not fit IS-F. It's amazon though so it may not be correct.

 

As far as 75/25 fitting , you should have no problem. The reason I know is, couple months ago, I was changing the baterry on my 03 Eclipse, back then the same REDTOP listed for my Eclipse is exactly the same REDTOP for the ISF, back them the optima listed also 75/25 YELLOWTOP option (Eclipse) which I ultimately purchased. I believe, it is the same size. I have the 75/25 Yellowtop baterry out of the car now, I traded the eclipse to get my ISF (kept the YELLOWTOP battery). I havent installed it yet. I might do that someday soon.

 

Nope, Not in December, TODAY!!!!! My wife's battery failed yesterday and our cars were bought together so I replaced both batteries at the same time. I got Bosh Premium Power, They were rated pretty good in Consumer Reports. A Group 24 for me and a Group 24F for her.

Why Lexus chose batteries for the ES and the IS that are exactly the same size and capacity but have different polarity is beyond me

It has to do with how the wire harnesses are layed out for the specific motor application(s)...

Also, the same batteries can be cross used between models for LHD and/or RHD when applicable

For example: An IS-F in Japan would use a Group 24F while an ES would use a Group 24
(Given your exact scenario in Japan)

^^^^Oh, I know why. But you'd think with Lexus's engineering expertise they could have designed the harness so that the battery polarity would be the same for all their vehicles. My battery is near the firewall on the passenger's side and the ES battery is toward the front on the driver's side.

you guys have the lexus charger for the f?that is sold on sewells??? the p guys swear by there charger. but they only drive once a week. i daily my f. just wonder after i get a new yellow top if i should charge it ???

 

If you are only daily driving your car. How come you don't use the 84 month battery from Toyota/Lexus? I doubt it will last that long with Texas weather, but seems good. I use the duralast yellow top for my truck with a similar warranty. It does have a pretty good start time when I am not using ethanol. Oh keeping non race batteries on maintainers does increase the life of the battery; Wish the same was for laptops.

I do plan on relocating my battery to the back with a light weight braille battery Probably have to get a custom cover for it though am debating if I want to take out the spare tire since it is not my daily driver.

Did you ever tried to fit the PC680 on the ISF?

I have one lying around the garage.

 

Does anyone know if the Optima red top that fits the F is model 8022-091 or 8022-160?

It has to be the 160 as it is identical to the Joe Z's picture and the application guide lists this as the exact fitment

The 091 has dual terminals (front mounted) which is not required by our vehicles (and the application guide does list any Lexus models).
