Default New GPS Recall

Fun fact, the day before I brought my car in for the airbag recall flub up from a different dealer, a GPS recall was released by Lexus. The dealer is having to update their computers in order to complete the recall and it's taking longer than expected. Give your dealer a call and make sure their computers are updated before leaving your car...

Do you have the recall letter stating what exactly needs to be fixed?

I don't, they said it was dated from last Thursday, dunno what the delay is between creating and notifying. They said it was a hardware replacement. I did end up out in the nearby ocean after coming out of a tunnel, so maybe it's related? Side note, anyone have a lead on a map update that doesn't cost $500?

Got the paperwork from the dealer. Limited Service Campaign KLG, says it required a calibration and reprogramming.

Did you get a quote? Was it better than $500?

I was quoted 330$ and 400$ by two separate dealers in the Chicago region to update the maps. Arlington Lexus Is the one with the lower quote.

All for the same CD. Infuriating.

Mine is a ‘10 so it’s more than just the CD. They need to do a long drawn update. Something like 2 or 3 hours of labor involved.

If it’s a SW update long and drawn out means park your vehicle with a battery tender and have a computer download an update while they work on another car.

Worked for Volvo and did software updates constantly. It’s 5 minutes of setup and literally had an empty bay we left the vehicle while it did it’s thing and worked on other cars. Get paid for both. Beauty of flat rate.

Not a chance, lol. Like ^^^^ he said, sit there and let it download, lmao!
I got the 2018 maps downloaded in my '12 back in April. They told me the '19 maps would be out in Oct. Who knows if it was the truth or not, lol. Anyway, was quoted $180 on the phone. After completion, they come with a $240 bill. I politely tell them I'm not paying that for the map update, especially when I was quoted $180....and if they can't stick with the $180 price, please take the car back and remove the maps. They proceed to verify with the person I talked to for the quote, came back and said "sorry for the mix up! We'll only charge you $140 for the confusion!". Worked for me!😁

I downloaded a torrent of the latest map update and burned it to a CD

It was a PAIN IN THE *** to figure out how to insert the disc into the system, spent forever trying to find a disc spot in the glovebox and trunk lol
