Recall for Dash and Door Panels
I purchased the car in May14 and used it July14 and just this past June.
I just ran out to the garage to double check - it does have a scent taking the top off the bottle. A bit of alcohol / shoe polish smell. I can attest that it DOES NOT leave this smell in the car however.

edit: The main reason I got it is because I did not like how shiny my dash was when I bought the car. So I washed it with soap & water, then applied this. Plus, it's pretty cheap. I still have 80% of the bottle left.

I applied it anywhere that wasn't leather, specifically with the melting stories in mind - dash and doors. No joke, it really seemed to absorb into the material, similar to the Gummi Pflege effect on weatherstripping. The dash does not feel any different. I do have it in my head that this has helped me. I very seldom use interior products & certainly not anything that claims to be an interior "sealant." I do approve of everything I've used from Wolfgang though, and I use a lot. I say give it a shot.

How unfortunate. I hate it when crap isn't replace by a newer revision.
08 here that doesn't spend every day out in the sun, but has spent its share. I don't have the issues you guys mention, but you can "see and feel" the consistency changes when it's really been baking. Not any more than other cars I've had, I think.
Anyway, I've cleaned and used Wolfgang Cockpit "Sealant" twice since I've owned the car - for what it's worth. I'm usually against interior chemicals, but this one doesn't leave it glossy so I tried it. I can't say it's helped or not, only hope.

I'd have to say, yes. Once I read about the melted dashes, I was conscious of how mine looked and felt I was a prime possible victim, particularly how glossy they looked when I first bought the car.
The replacement dash and door panels are the SAME MATERIAL???!!!!
I have a 2012.
I've always garaged my car so my dash is not gummy or sticky like some have experienced. I do get/see the white powdery looking stuff that people have mentioned when my dash is rubbed by my sun shade being put up and pulled down.
Maybe I'll get one of those carpet dash covers! Hello 1991!!!
