Man, sorry for your loss.

Hope you enjoyed the F while you had it for it was a great car. What intersection were you at?

Glad you are ok but that's more of around a 15mph crash, maaaaybe 20 tops. @ 40mph, the rear window would have easily shattered and the rear bumper midway through the trunk. easily. unless it was a smart car or something with significantly less mass than your car.

as far as the bucking of the "pillars," those are just the rear fenders which got tweaked cause they got pushed from the rear and slightly pulled down maybe. the underlying "actual" structural metal behind would likely be fine. just to point out some observations.

but for all intents and purpose an expensive repair and will be totaled. GLW new car!

Ouch, sorry for your loss and hope you are ok. I have an 08 MM as well and it's been my favorite car too just ahead of my AP1 S2000 followed by my 91 MR2 Turbo. Not sure I could ever go the SUV route like you are considering though! You should drop the $25K down on a GSF, all the kiddos can fit back there Good luck!

So very sorry to hear about this. The important thing is, you were able to walk away. Cars can be replaced....

Hey Dave!

Yeah, it was a great car! I was on buford hwy and pleasant hill heading south. I’m starting to look around and see what I can find in a 2011 with less than 100k. Having a hard time walking away from owning an ISF.

i went to the body shop today get my stuff out of it and just seeing it really made me want to get another. Not quite ready to pull the trigger on a GSF though. Maybe one day!

My guess is a cell phone was involved... Hurt like hell. Rear is smashed, pillars buckled a little in the rear, the front was pushed into a truck with tow hitch that went through the bumper. State Farm estimated 18k in damage. They are giving me $25k for the car. I'm pretty happy with the amount. '08 with 106k miles in great condition. Going to the body shop tomorrow to see if I can swap out my JoeZ intake for the stock one. They will have to cut my trunk open for me to get my stuff out. I had just put the RR Racing USRS on a few months ago. Really glad I didn't buy the borla exhaust yet... Was really loving this car. The best car I've owned so far. #2 was an '05 s2000, #3 a '87 RX-7 Turbo2.

Question - has anyone had luck claiming aftermarket additions for additional value on a total loss vehicle?

I have brand new rotors and project mu pads sitting in my garage. How do I get a referral or whatever is needed to sell on the forum? I'd prefer local (Suwanee, GA).

Not much to pick from in terms of local cars available. Ideally, I'd like an '11 for under 30k with less than 100k miles. Not sure how realistic that is. Might just be getting a midsize SUV and letting the dream of driving a sports car sit on the shelf for a few years. I have 3 kids under 5yrs old. Might need the funds elsewhere for a while.

Glad you are okay man!!! Consider looking into a 4runner! Not a V8, and sluggish but its a great family car. If that doesn't satisfy you, a Toyota Sequoia or Land Cruiser should be good. Unless ur saving some gas, maybe a highlander

I'm glad you're OK! 25K seems like a pretty good deal from the insurance. I recently totaled a modified vehicle and that's what led me to purchase my IS-F (long story short: guy pulled out in front of me trying to get a spot, it was either hit him or hit parked cars. I chose him. I was deemed not at fault on the police report). I can tell you right off the bat, usually insurance companies won't cover mods unless it's explicitly in your policy.

The route I took was this, I hired an appraiser to contest their valuation of the vehicle. Once the entire process was said and done, it ended up being financially beneficial for me to have gone that road, but it still didn't cover ALL of the mods on the car. I also submitted A TONNNNN of receipts in valuing the car. Just a heads up from my experience. If you need any advice about appraisers and such, feel free to reach out to me. Always happy to help!

Again, glad you're OK
