He's convinced my valve lash measurements were incorrect.

Lol okay. why would I have ordered 12 shims to set my lash incorrect. Purely illogical on his behalf. Dumb*** probably never organized anything, took pictures, nothing.
I'm still upset about this and probably will be until I'm awarded money for this whole ****** story.

How did you remove the cylinder head from the car without pulling the motor? Do you have to take of the timing chains and oil pan?

Entire front of engine. Oil pan stays on.
significantly easier to work on this way.
The above picture was a very crude I WIN moment.

If I ever pull the engine again this is the way to do it . As every other way is more time consuming .

Headers unbolted at the collector and pulled with the head is the way to go as well .

Springs and gasket kit is here. Just waiting till have time to work on the car.
Duramax is getting a new transfer case so I have quite a bit of workload at the moment.
Once that's done I'll hitting the trails in the Maverick for stress relief.

Meeting with attorney Thursday to pursue machine shop's negligence .

Yeah it was not easy leaving the header in the car. I fought it the whole time even with all but 2 studs removed. Snapped that pic, called the machine shop when i saw their mistake. Everything is cleaned up now and in organized bins.

Definitely bolting headers to the heads and twisting them in place for assembly. I'm also going to remove the engine mounts and support the engine with a jackstand and block of wood to gain more clearance.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Your epic is very inspirational to folks worried about the serviceability of low production power plant, barring idiots intervening in otherwise successful work.

Thanks.

The ISF is very easy to work on IMO compared to many volkswagen and german cars that come through my workplace. Some German engineering is outstanding, but working on them can be quite the PITA.
I'm partial to Japanese cars and GM cars/trucks since that's what I do most work on/ have most credentials/ experience. Rotary has special place in my heart for the small displacement and large amount of airflow they generate. Not to mention essentially 2 power "strokes" per 1 complete revolution.

Still awaiting for lawyer draft.

PPE headers should arrive this week or next week from Jet Hot for lifetime ceramic coating.

Valve shims should be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

It is very easy to set, and inspect valve lash with the heads out, compared to in the car.

Once the car is running I'll be driving it on clean dry days before I bring it to storage.

They sat out in the garage for a few days before I brought them inside. Flash rust really isn't a big deal since it's moreso cosmetic .
Finest Steel wool and some wd40 they'll look brand new again.
