Default isf - M2.

so I decided to give it a try and tools my f to a track day at our local track. Great experience. Lot of fun. Had a few encounter on the track. Like this one with an M2. He couldn't pass me on the curves. Only on the straight, because I didn't have a good exit speed on the last corner and lost speed.

Here's a video

Cool video!........I like the rear camera view you rarely see in track videos. Gives you a great perspective on who's behind you and they're driving skills trying to follow you or pass

He was right on your 6. Why didn’t you let him pass? Generally that’s standard practice for slower vehicles to allow a safe pass to avoid bunching.

That's a good video.

Having said that, he was way faster than you. IIRC it only took him two corners to catch you. (Not meant to be a dig at you - with equal drivers, M2 is way faster around a track. It's beat the new M4 on a bunch of tracks, and even that car would probably whoop ours)

It looks like he could have passed you anywhere he wanted if you were running a predictable racing line. As it was your first track day, he probably recognized your not so good and unpredictable driving line and wisely chose not to pass. Drag racing is one thing, but when you share a track and often the same space at different times, other drivers prefer to keep it that way. Touching cars at a track day = no fun. A little courtesy goes a long way on track days and you may have been better served trying to follow him rather than stay in front of him. Trust me, I'm not trying to lecture, really, but during my track days people drove unpredictable lines, braked WAY too early or too late, accelerated too slowly out of a turn, or just simply refused to wave me by lap after lap. If I had $100 for every time I almost got punted off of the course by another driver, I'd be rich. If it is available, opt for the ride along instruction on your next track day, attend all of the "optimal line" and technique seminars by other drivers (if offered), buy track day insurance, and immediately yield if you are the slower car. You will have more fun and others around you will too.
