Default My IS-F from Germany

Hey guys!

My my name is Roman and I live in Germany, not far away from Düsseldorf.
I really like your forum here, it's amazing how many different cool F's and specialists you have here!

Unfortubately we only have 215 registered IS-F in Germany and the law is really really strict about modifications here 😓
Also parts are extremely expensive here due to shipping costs and taxes.

Anyway we have a real great community here with a lot of real enthusiasts.

Attached some photos of the F at this moment, much more modifications will follow soon.

Wow that is a gorgeous color! When you say strict on mods, is that in terms of emissions or noise pollution?

Thank you guys!
It's the 3M Atomic Teal wrap, but the quality of 3M wraps is really poor 😓

We need certificates for the parts that are not OEM, at least we need a material certification which confirms the quality. After we have the certificate for the material we need a certificate that the part was installed in a proper way, after we have the
Materialgutachten + Teilegutachten we have to go to the TÜV station which is something like a technical department, with all the certificates I have to pay about 100$ And more depending on the parts(for every part!) to get a confirmation on the registration that it was tested and confirmed.
The price for the TÜV certification for the wheels was about 330$.
In case there is no certification for the material from the producer/tuner you can buy a second set of the parts and pay the material testing by yourself, but this will cost you about 1000$ without a guarantee that you pass the test.
Even if you change parts like the pedals you can get problems, same if you take seatbelts in an other color..
For all the lights u need a stamp that confirms that the brightness was tested, it's called E Prüfzeichen, even the bulbs you use need this stamp.. again.. if the producer didn't payed the tests you can't use the parts
before you pay the tests. (About 1.200-2.500$)

Also you need a tested wrap when you tint you windows, wrapping the tail lights is not allowed.

When you have parts which change the aerodynamic you need to test the airflow... costs about 10.000-15.000$... so no wings and stuff like this.
Same for front splitters because you could hurt pedestrians.

Exhausts can be 2-3dB louder than stock, everything else is illegal. Exhausts with valves are normally only allowed when you can't open them manual.

Engine swap is nearly impossible, certifications will cost you about 15.000€ and more, and you have to pass a strict smogtest.

And even when you payed all the certificates and the technical department a cop can pull over to stop you, if he has doubts regarding the testing he will just bring your car to the next TÜV station with a towtruck to check everything again..

This is just a small explanation of our laws, it's even much more complicated to be honest..

Welcome to the forum. And thanks for sharing the pics of your F, I love the color.

Less money spent on modifications leaves more to spend on fuel for high speed autobahn runs.

Welcome Roman,

Greetings from the UK.

Love what you've done with your F, especially given the strict laws on modifications you guys have.

Nice to see other modified F's in Europe.

Hoping to get mine over soon for a few laps at the Nurburgring. As and when that happens, maybe we can meet up?

All the best for now.

Gday from Sydney, Aust. Damn that is a nice colour and im sure it looks even better in the flesh. Definitely unique but in a good way.

So youre not happy with the wrap, is it peeling, flaking or something like that. Dont see many wrap jobs here, very expensive.

Surprised youre in a jap car where im assuming BMW, Audi, Mercs etc would be everywhere lol.

Even here modifying cars is a pain. Dont get me wrong, many do it but most on the car are illegal and either dont know it or have been lucky, the police hasnt pulled them over. i.e. Virtually every ISF with an exhaust is illegal unless they have an engineers certificate and even then the legal limit is 90db. Any cat back will push it just past this. Something as little as a filter has to be contained in a box so many of those exposed K&N type filters technically is a bookable offence if Police request you pop your bonnet open.

Then you generally have insurance issues where most insurers dont want to touch a modified car and if you have an accident and havent declared your modifications, they can refuse a claim etc. Definitely takes the fun out of our modified car scene. The US definitely does seem more lenient in this respect.

Roman, welcome from New York nice looking F. I didn't realize Germany was that restrictive. We here in USA have it much easier that most country's when it comes to modifying our vehicles. Here there are certain federal safety and emissions regulations that must be met, but each state has it's own rules when it comes to safety, emissions and modification are concerned. States like California are more restrictive then New York. Each state has it's own guide lines how cars are inspected some require intense visual inspection as well as emissions while others require very little by way of inspection. In New York they do just quick visual inspection of tires, brakes, head lights, brake lights, check for any cell on your dash, connect to obdII port to ensure you have no codes. Some shops may check exhaust as well. But that's about it. That's why my F has I/H/E, RR Racing tune, LCA, and Tuned intake, Figs Engineering endlinks, tires, brake pads, and few other goodies
