Default ISF used parts market

Open discussion just to see what everyone's opinion is. But far as I can tell the short time I've been here, lot of you guys are smoking crack as to what you want for used parts hahaha. I can't believe how many Tom's diffusers with imperfections and people ask for what they cost new now. Used JoeZ exhaust in the classifieds for literally what it cost new lol

I get supply and demand, but I can't be the only one that finds some of these asking prices to be quite ridiculous

If you "get supply and demand", you'd realise it's not the sellers that are smoking crack... it's the market (buyers) that are - they're the ones supporting these prices. haha

you can ask for the moon if someone is willing to pay for you asking price.. it's all about getting a good return on something used ( not the sellers fault ).. you post high, people will haggle for the price, you go down a couple of dollars and your'e still getting top dollar.. in the end, no one is forcing anyone to buy it.., crazies just need to know to walk away and wait for a better deal..

I think the reason IS-F parts can still fetch top dollar in the used market is due to the lead time for some parts when buying new, if its even available.. for example the joe-z intake tube. Seems like the best bet is to buy used if its in good condition so when you sell it, you can probably recoup almost all of your money.

^^ All fair comments lol. Out of interest, what would a set of 4 genuine 2010 ISF alloys c/w good tyres be worth, in excellent condition? Cheers.

This! Its all the crack heads that are willing to buy used parts for new prices. I get it if the part is super rare and would require months of waiting to get it new, but that is rarely the case. Then again, if I'm the one selling the used part, I'm not complaining one bit... crazy crack heads... lol.

I agree. I see lots of used parts demanding top dollar. However, there are cases of fluctuating prices--KW coilovers bounced between 2200-2700MSRP, affecting used party sales--and of course, availability--pay 1000 used to get it now rather than paying 1200 to get it in a few months.

I think the reduction in MSRP is likely what's throwing a lot of it off. I think all those people that paid well over 1k for a Tom's diffuser years ago might not be aware they don't cost that anymore from what I've seen.

Just kind of crazy when you see BC coilovers which are $1300 new with swifts selling with 10k miles for $1200 lol WTF people

If you have brand new pilot super sport and the rims are mint that's not a bad deal. Rather pay for forged bbs rims than those vossens all day.
