I know what you mean, I used to think that way but if you look closer, you will note that the button like that. At first I thought it was fading or worn but all the IS button like that, I believe.

The controls are subjected to being pressed all the time and our fingers have oil and dirt on them. Buttons can be cleaned with some orange cleaner, should look new after that.
Make sure to spray cleaner on the cloth and not on the buttons themselves.

I am a lot more pissed off about the seat memory buttons losing all semblance of their original markings.

As nice as the ISF is, it is still built on an entry level Lexus platform and it seems to me that the quality of materials reflect this. I am quite disappointed that my ISF with barely 50K km is showing what I would consider excessive wear on the seat bolster as compared to my 20 year old (430K km) GS400. Granted the ISF seats are shaped differently but the fact remains the leather couldn't hold a candle to the GS seats in terms of quality. The same could be said about the paint quality, trim, plastic components, etc. Nevertheless I suppose most of us bought this car more for function than form/fit which tends to offset the other disappointments.
