Default Considering a 160k mile IS-F - Seeking opinions

I found a 1 owner 2010 IS-F and have made an offer for $20k. It has every option I believe.
Even at that price, I am having second thoughts.

My LS400 is falling apart now at 250k and I as much as I considered the LS430 as a used replacement, I really like the feel of driving the IS-F.

I would be using it as a daily driver and average 100 mi / month (yes month) for work and take weekend roadtrips that average 300-500mi.

Would appreciate any feedback from owners that have high mile IS-Fs regarding what they've gone through in repairs or unexpected costs.

Thanks!

I have an 08 with 146k only thing I've replaced outside of wearables is the starter which went at 135k. Amazing machines and incredibley reliable. I bought mine with 116k on it in 2014 for 23k I think you can do better on the price 18-19ish seems a little more reasonable.

Ive seen some for the same price but with 50K miles less. You should wait a little and continue your search.

It has been said, I would hope for the best but expect the worst at that mileage. What if the transmission goes out since it has the lifetime fluids thingy? How recently were the shocks replaced? Brakes rotors, pads, and tires can be costly if need to replace. Would the owner let you collect the engine and transmission fluids samples so they can be analyzed by a pro, like Blackstone Labs? While it could be a solid car for many years to come, thorough inspection / pre-purchase inspection is a must.

That said, I'd rather put the $20k down on a newer and much lower mileage on the next ISF but that's just me.

Best of luck to you.

Can you elaborate on this "lifetime fluids" ?

And yes, the mileage is what is concerning me. Will probably walk away, but the IS-F is definitely interesting me.

"Lifetime" ATF fill. Some have their doubts. I just had a cooling fan motor die an ugly death at 139k miles. They're $300+ each for just the part. At this kind of mileage, you should have $1000 on hand at any given time to fix something that has worn out.

As someone who just got out of his F, I would avoid it unless you have a sizeable maintenance/repair budget. If you have that budget, use it on a much newer F.

I think it really depends on your ability to make repairs yourself. I would say it depends on the service records. If the records support that it has had everything done it wouldn't scare me.

Look for one with 90-140k on it for like $22-24k. In cali where Im at they cost a bit more then everywhere else. I bought mine a few years back with 72k for $30k. I have been looking online and with 96k, im seeing my value around $25-26k.

I'll tell you what an ISF will become a rare collector item and will soon fall into the same category of supras/NSX/rx7s so happy I own one and will keep it Fo EVa! Good luck in your search. I agree with others you might be able to find one a bit less mileage for the same price. But it's super hard to find though.

How did you know your starter was going bad?

Car wouldn't start. Mine started up very quickly as normal that morning then two hours later it was dead. Its a very big bill too, better be ready for it if you have an 08-09 F with no warranty.

Genuine Denso starters are less than $300. Are you saying the install labor is expensive?

Just time for me..but these days, that's expensive too.
