Discovered it at 93k, no warranty... Quoted $1500 to fix. I also have a oil leak at on the timing chain cover $2000 to fix.
Currently at the dealer waiting for corporate to review my complaint to see if they will assist in the cost

Just barely worth addressing when I have 180k+ on the odometer and this is all there is to see. Lexus ignored this, if it even existed, when they did the fuel pressure sensor recall.

That gooping is considered minimal? If so that is good to know that there is more time to go on from there.

It looks way bigger than it is. The coolant drop isn't noticeable at all, and I do keep tabs on it regularly. It will get fixed when I do the cam chain tensioners, it's just a matter of time.

When you do it all, remove the water pump and you'll have a better visual of the transfer tube to the valley plate.
Helps make sure the tube o-rings are properly in place. Especially for timing cover r&r.

Thanks for the tip. I was planning to replace the coolant pump anyway. It's got well over 100k miles on it now. Lexus replaced it pretty early on because it was failing prematurely - a known issue with the '08s for sure.

Any evidence of these failing after being fixed by lexus? Was the issue an inferior gasket material that has been replaced?

Is this problem a 'eventually will fail' on the isf, or is it something that affects some cars and not others? I have a 2010 (since new) and haven't had any problems at all (its a canadian car). 100 000KM.

There is no true gasket to replace. It's all labor..
Its a black Lexus / Toyota FIPG sealant... @lobuxracer goes in depth on the sealant to use and not to use.. (can't find the post)

There have been some minor reports of a 2nd failure, my guess is sloppy tech / prep work..

All dealerships warranty their work for 12 months unlimited miles.. Most IS F's OEM warranties have lapsed by now.

If nothing breaks and the knock sensor harness is not flooded by coolant, the only 2 parts to replace are the 2 - O Rings found on the transfer tube.
New coolant recommended by default.

Same question. I have a 2010 as well @ 45k miles. On the average, at what mileage does one expect this failure?
