^^^^As Tas02 said - The regular short tube PPE header has unequal (UL) length tubes. The equal length (EL) PPE header has equal length tubes. This was originally designed to fit the RCF, but it also fits the ISF. It comes in two versions one with short tubes that end in the same place as the original UL header and a long tube (LTEL) that ends further down and would require the modification of any other exhaust system except the exhaust system made by PPE. pics are attached.
With EL headers the pulse from one cylinder to the next in the firing order tend to have a scavenging effect. While UL headers flow far better than the stock manifold they lack the scavenging effect of the EL header. The LTEL header flows the exhaust gases further before they merge in the collector.

There was a huge change for the better in the quality of the sound inside the car.
I went from short tube unequal length PPE headers and PPE's single mode exhaust with high flow cats to long tube equal length PPE headers and no cats on the PPE exhaust.
When first starting the car with the new setup, it sounded so much quieter and refined that I thought something was wrong. Yes, it's actually quieter now with no cats in place. And like Lou reported in his post, the 2k rpm drone is almost completely eliminated. No more dissonance.

Only thing I would do differently is skip the Swift springs and go right to coilovers.
The HKS coilovers made me enjoy the car so much more than the Swifts.
I'd buy the Borla exhaust again in a heartbeat, same with the HPS intake elbow/AFE filter.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember reading somewhere that the Novel Equal Length Headers didn't make as much power as the PPE UL headers.
From what I remember the Equal Length Headers just made the car sound exotic but didn't add as much power as the UL PPE Headers.

When I bought my '11, it had the stock 225s up front and 265s in the back which was an uneven setup. I liked the wider rears, so when it came time to put fresh tires on, I did some research and I opted for the 235/265 setup. Big mistake and regretted it the whole time because it was very sloppy on hard turns and I didn't like the look of the taller fronts. Now, I am on the suggested 245/35 and 275/30 and am enjoying the performance and look.

So the ultimate setup would be "long tube" equal set with PPE dual exhaust with cats?

^^^^Since I have the setup you are asking about, I can tell you that noise levels, with the valve closed are very close to stock with no drone. With the system open, the sound is very mean and nasty, but without the lopping sound you get with UL headers . And, with the EL headers, drone is very much reduced over the UL headers.
And yes to your question on the cats.

I do not regret my 6 mods. And it seems to go faster now.
