So I took a few minutes and used an SOS pad as suggested. the more significant scratch has been greatly reduced, almost to where I didn't see it. Gonna have to go at it again for longer and see if it disappears more

You can use it on the paint before drying with a microfiber towel. It will get 70% of the water off.

Do you have a 5 gallon detailer wash bucket with grit guard? that would be first on the list, followed by a good wash mitt and good quality car shampoo. All that, microfiber drying towels and a jelly blade and you can do a great basic wash.

Paint cleansing is done via clay and clay lube, and then paint protection has a slew of choices depending on how often you want to apply it, what color your car is, how much shine are you looking for and how much you are willing to spend. Many many choices, everyone have their favorites. Some use carnauba wax (more shine less protection), some use synthetic wax (more protection, good shine), some like me use a sealant (every 3-4 months).

~ Try to clay your car at least once a year, all paint surfaces (unless you have clear bra).

If you got more questions, just post here or PM.

Or please come visit our lovely Club Lexus Detailing Forum

There are tons of Lexus owners who are detailing enthusiasts, and even a few pros like myself who will share insight and help to answer questions, recommend products, etc etc

I have two dedicated wash buckets, but not with grit guard. I've got microfiber towels, wash mitt and etc. I've ordinarily used Meguiars everything, their carnauba wax, wash. I even had their buffer, but i went halfsies on that with a buddy and when he moved I let him take it and I just haven't replaced it yet. I clay bar my car at the end of every season. Leather is cleaned and conditioned once a month because it sits out exposed to the sun at work. At home, it sleeps in a garage.
