I purchased my ISF in November 2015, within the first week of owner ship i noticed the headlight had moisture inside it. i Requested it be replaced by lexus and was not given the time of day.
The ballast finally burnt on Feb 19th 2016. I brought it to Lexus and was told it would be 1890$ plus labour to replace the unit and they would not help me with any of the costs.
Ive spoken to Lexus Canada and they give me the same story.
I am waiting for a call back from management and would like to know my options or what i can do to get some help from lexus.
From what I've read the glue in the headlight is not strong and allows moisture inside. This is a factory issue and i cannot understand how this cost falls on the customer.
If you're mechanically inclined, you can fix it yourself fairly easily. How do you feel about attempting to fix it on your own? you will need to buy a new ballast and sealant for the light.
Purchased from a Lexus Dealer. I am capable of fixing the problem on my own but weather is going to delay it at least another 2 months. Also i was told i cannot purchase the ballast without the entire unit from lexus. i am looking around for another ballast but they are all used and i fear buying something already damaged.
I recently did this on my F. I had to redo the passenger side because of a broken tab and moisture. I purchased a used like new ballast from eBay and it has been working perfectly fine since December. Now since you purchased form a dealer, i would expect them to want to make things right and fix it. such an awkward situation.
I believe the warranty on headlamps is 4yr/50k warranty. So unless you have something in writing when you purchased your vehicle your out of luck
I agree, unless you got something in writing you're going to have to call corporate and speak up. Harass corporate and the dealership by claiming safety issue. Out of warranty, and nothing in writing the most they'll do is 50/50. They cover part, you pay labor. Unless you can convince them completely otherwise. You gotta call deal with corporate not the dealership.
