went to dealer other day for the recall on fuel gasket,and there was coolant found under the intake or somethin,didnt get it fixed is this an issue. Mechanic said it wasnt anything serious,anyone have the same issue,i have an 08 with little over 80K

Yes, there have been others with this issue

 

It is an issue and serious - the heat exchanger gasket has probably failed and needs to be redone. it is leaking coolant on the top of the engine and it is cooking from the heat of the motor.

In the USA they are aware of the issue as it happened on select early model vehicles duiring the production. A good mechanic would have recognized this and fixed it, as to preform the repair now means they have to basically remove all of the same components as they did to fix the fuel vapor issue. There is an internal Lexus TSB and a recommended fix (which basically is to remove the exchanger cover and reapply the silicone sealant). Depending on the vehicle, each one that needs this repair, can have a different degree of leakage. As it is completely hidden to the eye, you need to remove all of the parts (like during the fuel ELF repair) to see it. Heavy coolant smell and constanly low coolant levels are to only other indicators.

What happens if u don't fix imediately?

 

Presumably you can nurse the leak by topping up your coolant level on as regular a basis as necessary?

Whilst the ideal solution would be to get it fixed straight away, I appreciate we don't always have the means to do that.

You would be best to get it fixed as soon as possible, but regular checks, topping up the coolant, monitoring your temp gauge should keep you going for a while.

After all, it's gone unnoticed sometime since 2008, so that could be anywhere up to 7yrs already.

welcome to 08-09 ISF reality. Pretty common issues but this is the worst I have seen one .
