It basically took away the rubber guibos that bolt on to the diff pinion flange and transmission output flange, they absorb a lot of power being transferred. There is a post in the thread that frank at dss had me put a link on explaining the science behind the use of a carbon shaft over a metal type (1piece or more).

I have a scale and my IS-F weighed in at 3530 pounds at drag racing weight (just a couple gallons of gas). Figs rotors - 23 pounds, Volk RE-30 18" rims -40 pounds, spare, jack, tools, engine cover, lithium battery, BC coilovers, Borla Catback and PPE headers. You can really feel the 200 pound reduction and especially the 60 pounds of rotating mass reduction. I was going to replace both front seats with buckets and get under the 3500 pound mark - maybe down to 3450, but decided not to - I'm not aware of anybody making a kit to make sure I don't get airbag/seatbelt simulators.
That's quite awesome there toothdoc, I rewally want gt30's or re30's, I'm not sure what my gt7's weigh in at. I have a electrical diagram manual, I know you only need a 2.2ohm resistor for the airbag/seat sensors to be tricked. I have a momo jet2 and bell paddle shift neo I'm going to install at some point and really wanna work out a deal through status or corbeau for seats so I got the manual to know what wires are for what.
Well I'm debating on these two if I don't go with a custom set of status seats. I've read you can use the is300 seat brackets on the isf so I would likely just order with the seats.
1st choice is the corbeau RRX 25.85 lbs has silver carbon accent (would go well with stock interior trim)
2nd choice: corbeau RRS 26.6 lbs (all black leather, would look well like oem)
Yes but you need to add the resistor so it doesn't freak the system out, on a empty passenger side though the airbag "would" deploy (I say "would" due to variations of accidents causing to deploy or not)
will the airbags still work with an aftermarket seat?
If you are running a racing seat, you might as well get a 5 point harness(which would be better than an airbag going off). If you had a real harness an airbag wouldn't even reach or do anything for you.
The stock front seats I am sure weight a ton and would net you the most reduction in weight. I know the Supra MKIV driver seat alone weighted more than 50lbs, I would image the ISF driver seat weighting even more. Racing seats for the front would drastically cut some serious weight.
Carbon fiber hood and trunk also. If the weight of the ISF aluminum hood is anything like the Supras(which weighted 28lbs with 4lbs being insulator), a CF hood weights between10-20lbs(dependent on manufacture and type). Sorry for the Supra references, I can not find any ISF/ISX50 references to the weight of OEM parts.
If I get hyped enough today (maybe get a nos energy drink lol) I'll take em out to get measurements... Being 6'-3" I preffer a recliner
Thanks for the link above
Anyhow be careful with those energy drinks, I almost ended up in the emergency room after drinking a 5hour energy make my whole body shake uncontrollably
My aunt works at a hospital in surgery and she has plenty of stories of people who have come in with heart palpitations after drinking too much energy drinks either alone or mixed with alcohol
Agh I don't drink them anymore (3 years sober lol) I was growing concerned about useage.. Honestly Id say the best mod so far (haven't gotten to installing the giken diff) has been the driveshaft, I love the exhaust too but maybe just from being a part of a new product development and testing it.

Don't put a 4, 5, or 6 point belt in a car without a roll bar. If the car rolls you die.
The IS-F seats are heavier than the MkIV Supra seats. I've had them both out of the respective cars.
In most cases don't rollovers end bad? Besides I think it just depends how you attach the harness's to the car and you gotta figure that it would keep you a lot more intact than a oem 2 point
Currently my weight reduction items are:
removed jack and tools – 8.75 lbs
removed trunk mat – 4.5 lbs
removed spare tire – 37 lbs
Borla catback exhaust - 16 lbs
BC coilovers - 10 lbs Total: - 76.25 lbs
I need new rotors and I have a set of Enkei wheels in the basement, just have to buy rubber.
Coming soon:
Enkei PF01 18x9.5 - 16.5 lbs rotational
275/35R18 Michelin PSS - 2 lbs rotational (good bye understeer)
FIGS 2pc rotors - 23 lbs rotational Total: - 40.5 lbs rotational
Combined Total: -116.75 lbs
At some point I may get a lighter battery, light weight front seats, and have a shop remove the sunroof and replace it with a reinforced aluminum section. I'm guessing those three things combined would net 150 more lbs.
