08-09 Lexus ISF...What to watch for
I have been in the market for a new car for 1.5 years now and have recently chosen an 08-09 Lexus ISF over a 2010 B8 Audi S4 mainly because of reliability and long term costs. So the question now is what should I ask about or look for when inquiring about a used ISF, such as any kinks or problems that seem to be common among this particular year ISF. And also what changes have been made from the 2008 model to the 2009? Thanks!

As far as I know no changes between those MY's you are in search of. Just watch out for leaky water pump which is common on 2008's & some 2009's if I am not mistaken. I always search for a 1 owner car w very low miles & clean carfax to go with it

The water pump issue on some 2008 has been well documented. Whether you're purchasing private party or from a dealer, check for any navigation issues, tire wear, if it came with aftermarket coilovers or springs (to see if they're blown or leaking), and maybe the needle gauges to see if the child are dead or not. There are a good number of low mileage Fs, so definitely narrow it down by color of choice first. Best of luck!

smart man, ha
08 to 09 is exact same car, except the center console is black in the 09 as opposed to 08's grey.
i THINK thats the only difference, both MY's have high likelyhood of a leaky waterpump, if it has not been replaced previously. but its not a huge job. 500 at MOST for parts and labor.
thats really the only common issue i think, corrected in 2010, (and really the only common issue i can think of for the entire time the F has been out)., and also sometimes peeps navs/touchscreens go out on the 08-09's too, much more rare occurrence.
oh yeah and the needle guage led bulbs or something i think can go out has bnizzle mentioned.

just purchased an 08 about almost two weeks now, the needle is about to die about on the rpm, maybe half of it. the navigation is still good except the calibration part. I purchased it at CarMax with 90k for about $30k, I purchase the warrant as well for $1600 with 150k miles or 5 years, except wear and tear. the car is in great shape btw.. Gluck!
