Default 2008 ISF water pump.

Hello fellow clublexus members, I own a 2008 lexus ISF, and I read a lot about how the 08s are very known for their water pump failure, is there a recall for it? or do I have to go to lexus and pay to get it replaced or do I just wait until something happens? The water pump has me a little worried, since I like all my cars trouble free. My car is currently at 49k miles and never had a single problem and the car has always been serviced by lexus since first owner. Thanks!

No recall since not all 08 cars are and will be affected. You will see the coolant seep from the water pump if you have the issue. Repair as required.

there's no recall for it. lexus will pay for it if it's leaking and you're still under the 6 year/70k powertrain warranty. if you're outside of that, it'll be on your own dime.

A lot of info on the water pump issue in this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...p-leaking.html
I just replaced mine 2 weeks ago, very easy DIY (and cheap). I think it can be a little pricey if you have to get the dealer to do it.

I wish I'd done it myself even though it qualified for warranty. They did such a poor job of cleaning up the engine undercover, I thought it was still leaking a week later.

Also, if you move the reservoir to change the serpentine belt tensioner without disconnecting any hoses, expect to get some leakage from the hose to reservoir joint until you clean it up. DAMHIK/
