Default Replacing stock woofer options

I have all the components needed to replace my blown stock sub with an aftermarket unit (amp, box w/ woofer), converter, amp install kit etc. and have the lining in trunk already pulled (from installing coilovers).

the dilemma I'm faced with is that I don't want the added weight, loss of trunk space, hacking into the factory wiring and I feel that the stock sound system is decent. It's been two weeks since everything's in place and I still haven't started it.

Are there any aftermarket woofers I can use to install in place of my blown ML woofer? I realize the power output of the ML sound system / amp is weak but man, just don't want to go through with it.

Anyone try one of those stock woofer repair kits on ebay?

Ideally, an aftermarket JL woofer that's a direct / near direct replacement would be great and was wondering if anyone has gone this route.

thanks in advance for any solid advice.
