Default Brake lines...

It's time for some new brakes/pads! I purchased the Raybestos rotors from rockauto.com and StopTech Street Performance Pads from ebay ($134 for a front/rear set). I don't track my car, so I'm more concerned with the lower dusting.

In researching which rotors and pads to get, I noticed that some individuals also purchased stainless steel brake lines. What's the purpose of these? Did anyone actually feel a significant difference in braking with these installed? Appreciate any insights.

Don't bother. Installing new lines is a great way to get leaks. Unless yours are rotted or absolutely need that edge for racing, its not worth the time.

why bother installing anything then?

if done correctly you wont have leaks

Why install something that doesn't solve a problem?

Your question assumes too much. I've installed brake lines. I've known many people that have done the same. Done right still doesn't guarantee no issues. From my experience they usually start leaking at some point.

I believe the OEM brake lines are better then the stainless lines offered.

agreed. You have to check stainless steel lines to make sure they are still good and they wear out faster also.

I was going to install SS lines on my GS350, but just found out Kevlar lines are OEM. I've had SS lines on my SVT lightning and mustangs, which have rubber lines as OEM. I'm going to have my rotors turned this weekend and see how that improves my braking. eventually I'm going to replace the rotors with slotted rotors and low dust pads.

I installed the SS Stoptech brake lines on my ISF, as I had in the past on my other project cars.
They look awesome, high quality product. Stoptech is a top notch company IMO.
I think the potentional problems are highly overblown. Brake pedal feels awesome.
I installed my front Stoptech pads, all 4 SS lines and flushed the system, I felt a noticeable improvement but

I think you would have felt the same pedal if you'd just bled your brakes. My experience with braided lines vs. OEM lines is zero difference when both systems are properly bled.

The other issue is, you changed everything all at once, so it's going to feel different no matter what.

Anyone turning their rotors can expect poor braking performance unless you have them centerless ground. A brake lathe makes a groove like a phonograph record, and this spiral actually decreases braking performance by requiring more pedal effort for the same stop. Worst of all, it never improves.

I have a pair of turned rotors if you want to try them and see what I mean. Turning them makes them junk.
