Got the IS-F again!!!
Hey guys, so here they are together - I know the picture isn't so great - the snow is melting and even though I just had them washed today, driving back got them dirty already. LOL BTW, the PSS are awesome! My PS2 were on for 5 years and near the end of their life, they were hard and noisy. The PSS brand new is soooo smooth and quiet.
I will say that Midwest Motors is awesome. They repaired the two rims that had curb rash on them, they repaired the lower bumper, touched up all the nicks, fixed the exhaust rattle, did a six stage buffing. Changed the oil. For all that work, they charged me 500 bucks over what I traded it in for so 34K + TTL. They actually probably took a little bit of a loss in that - but he was doing me a personal favor. Afterall, I did just get a TTS and X5M.
The IS-F is NOT slow and is NOT lacking horsepower. Just in comparison to the S, the low end torque isn't there and the traction is lacking. 470 hp in my F vs. 530 in the S and the two cars have a weight difference of only 200 pounds or so. It's really the launch that the F gets murdered with. I mean, I have actually pulled on the previous E60 M5 (by 2 mph at the end of the 1/4) and C6 corvettes so definitely NOT a slow car so forget what I said in my earlier post. LOL
The TTS is not as hard core as the GT3. I don't need anymore hardcore. Under sport +, it's pretty darn raw in comparison to the F. But the biggest factor is that the GT3 is a little faster than my F and traction is a little better than my F. But the TTS is considerably faster 0-60 than the GT3. Some magazines have gotten 2.6 and 2.7 to 60 (I'm thinking that's with a 1 foot rollout) so more realistically probably 2.8-2.9 0-60 (no rollout with launch control). I haven't used launch control because I don't even have traction just rolling into it. Besides, the S is my DD so in the snow, rain, sun or not I drive it to work.
I was actually going to wait until the 991 TTS came out and get a lightly used one in about 5 years time. By then, the F would be about 10 years old but sometimes you just make irrational decisions. My brain was full of endorphins after flooring the S and wasn't thinking clearly. I have no regrets in purchasing the S, but did have extreme regrets in selling the F. So now I have both! And my wife isn't complaining anymore because instead of her Prius, she's got a 2010 X5M.
So, I'm definitely not going to take the F drag racing anymore. (I don't have drag radials anymore - they were dangerously worn). I'll take the F on Sunday cruises and a couple of track days at Autobahn Country Club. That's it. I think I"m actually going to keep the F for a VERY VERY long time now.
The F has such a nice sound. 5.0 V8. I TOTALLY missed it. Now I have it again and my high tech mechanical turbo also.
I'm actually going to keep it at my folks place - they live 10 minutes away and have spare garage space. I have a 3 1/2 car garage but with 3 children, I don't want them scratching ANY of my cars so I give them plenty of space. LOL
