I use regular Castrol GTX 5w30.

As others have said, its a matter of opinion.

You and your dealer are right. The F's do not come stock from the factory with synthetic. They are using conventional from the factory. However on my first oil change I put in Mobil 1 and that's what I will continue to use.

There's been a ton of threads about which oil to use on our F's... I'm using what Joe Z uses in his F....

Mobil 1 Super 5W-30 Premium Conventional Engine Oil

This is what I did. Using mobil 1 from the dealer. Cost sucks as my 15k service last week was $230. I think the 10k service was $160. I might start doing it on my own, but I like the documentation of the services at Lexus.

Synthetic is not required. The owners manual calls for normal oil but running synthetic will only take better care of your engine over it's life and if you road corse your F... It's worth it for the extra properties under extreme heat and abuse

Bring your own mobil 1 and oil filter to your dealer. They only charge me labor. $38 out the door, plus of course your cost for the oil and filter.
