I was just at my dealer not too long ago and he said the f's didn't use synthetic which shocked me. Said they use 5w30

ISFpat 02-11-13 07:23 PM

5w30 could be synthetic..

And dino oil is not recommended in new cars anymore.. I'm surprised people even mention anything but synthetic nowadays.

KOKISF 02-11-13 07:28 PM

thats the main reason for this thread , some say the car use dyno from factory , I wish to know why or if its recomended and better to use synthetic

me for instance think synthetics are better but more costly , they use dyno because if you replace it on time it will do the job cheaper

streetx 02-11-13 07:44 PM

I use Motul

ISFPOWER 02-11-13 07:44 PM

i think oem uses synthetic blend.

i use pennzoil ultra. seems to make the engine quieter than my last oil chage with mobil 1 syn

ShadowISF 02-11-13 08:29 PM

I use mobile 1 synthetic

Well, my Blackstone Lab's oil report showed after 5,100 miles from dino oil, "...no contaminants or other issues were found" and even suggested to run for 7.000 miles on next oil.

Just because it hasn't been broken down after 5k miles doesn't mean its superior to synthetic (especially when the car has been ran hard).. Like I said, synthetic has been proven to be superior in virtually every category (and not that much more expensive).

Royal purple 5w-30.
There is nothing better.

edgeucated 02-11-13 10:44 PM

you could argue this for days, but I would recommend synthetic for the peace of mind.

im sure some people would contest this... synthetic in general is good especially in FI applications, but royal purple as a brand may not be the best..

^^^^ I'm sure you are right^^^^^^ I was told the factory oil was not synthetic. I have used mobile 1 but have now switched to royal purple as I to believe its one of the best n the market.
