1000 mile 1st service
Have to bring my car in for 1000 mile service. What is done at this service? What additional stuff should I get done? Is this a free service from Lexus?

I'm about to take my car in for its 1000 mile service also, from what the dealer told me is that the 1k and 5k service are both complimentary, the 1k service is just to make sure the car is running properly and to ensure that no problems exist in the car from the factory.

Did they not tell you after you bought a $60,000+ car from them? or were you not listening because all you wanted to do was go out and drive the car?

That is right F, I never listen to the salesman after I sign the paperwork. I just want to get the hell out of there. Before forums like this, you actually had to pay attention.

I don't blame you for wanting to GTFO and drive the beast!
...but everyone is right...1000 miles complementary "check up" then bring it back for the 5000 mile oil change.
As far as maintenance goes, just follow what's in your manual. if you want to save a lot of money, you might want to look into learning how to replace your own brakes as that's something that is very easy and can be done with $50 dollars in tools (less if you buy Harbor Freight tools), There's also a DIY on the forums how to do it.
The car for the most part will give you zero problems for awhile. I seem to be the only one that has had this problem, AND i don't want to scare you, but I've had a transmission failure that cost me a a few grand, but Lexus did kick in half the cost of a rebuilt transmission even though I'm out of warranty.

The check up is mainly for an oil change, tire pressure, and all the minor routine maintenance. It is also the time, as someone earlier stated, to change your LPS if you like. Just F Me is right- you can do all the oil changes yourself, unless you prefer to have it done at a dealer. I've always preferred to do it myself and keep a log as well.
