IJDMTOY DRL LED's w/ new slim decoder - installed
5 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
I purchased ijdmtoy's DRL LED's with their new redesigned slim decoder. I got them from the vendor classifieds and sent PM's back and forth. Perfect fitment inside the dust cap, no drilling or modification needed. Check out the pictures. However, installation was definitely a PITA on the passenger's side as I didn't remove the intake box but still a super simple install. Vendors Classified thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/clu...-and-hids.html Bulbs from their website: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/9005-LED-Da...d_sku45_r4.htm Use this thread for installation reference: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ts-w-pics.html Pictures: Attachment 462431 Attachment 462432 Attachment 462433 Attachment 462434 Also installed mirror puddle lamps too Attachment 462435 I love the new look of the drl's, so much better than the oem bulbs :woot: |
good look.
I'll probably be ordering 2 slim decoders for mine, did not know that it would fit in without modifying the moisture guards! |
Looks good bro! Bright as f***!
|
They are bright but I like them a lot! :D
|
I have the same modification except I used the kit from V-LEDs. It's a way improved look over OEM yellow! You're right about the installation, a PITA unless you have tiny, flexible hands! I managed to squeeze the entire module inside the moisture guards.
How is your hi-beam capability though? |
I have the bulbs in, just haven't gotten around to installing them. Mine didn't come with the decoders. What do the decoders do and are they necessary?
|
They look awesome!!!
|
Have any pics of the headlights when they're not on? I want to see if the LED bulb is visible when the lights aren't on.
|
About a year ago I took my 2008 ISF to Jotech Motorsports in Garland, TX to have my DRL bulbs switched to LEDs. After about 45 minutes they came back and said they couldn't do it because the LEDs kept flickering. Has anyone else experienced this problem or know why it was happening? Thanks!

Much brighter than the OEM, which I like. I also like that there was no modification to the dust cap. Great work!
|
I'll go take some photos later today and post them up. The high beams are still functional although not as bright as before, I still get that extra brightness and low beam transitions itself higher so it still works.

Can someone explain why this changes the high beam function?
|
I assume these are useless as high beams though?
|
^^ the high beams act as the daytime running lights at low power (on '08 to '10 models I believe).. LEDs are dim in comparison to stock halogen lights.
^ the high beam functionality is compromised, but it is not lost completely. The low beam projector actually has a "flap" that opens and closes when you toggle the high beam. So you will still have the high beam and it will be noticeable to other drivers, it just won't be as bright. In my experience, I use the old module/decoder and the fuse for the high beam blows out if I use the high beam for too long, killing the DRL functionality. I keep a pack of low-profile 15amp fuses handy just in case. |

Bulb without the car on:
Attachment 462436 Another shot of the drl led's: Attachment 462437 So far so good. It was a simple plug and play setup, very straight forward. |
