Default Not a Routine 5K Service

I took the 2012 F in for the 5K oil change, and they called to tell me the left front strut is a leaker and is being replaced tomorrow.

This is probably an isolated case, but it is probably worth while for 2012 owners to check their struts for fluid leakage. There may be a few defective struts on the beast.

My 2010 F is at the dealer today having a rear strut replaced as well (leaking). I'm also getting a free set of brake pads via the squeaking break TSB :-) I almost with I wasnt though.. i'd rather swap in a set of Wearever ceramic's to deal with the dust. Either way - keep an eye out on struts leaking. I don't think its wide spread but if you can get them replaced for free why wouldnt you :-)

I have seen some posts on here about leaking struts as well!

Strange to see it already on a 2012!

yeah i had my driver's side rear shock replaced cuz it was leaking. i brought in the car cuz it was squeaking at times as i got in and out of the car. they thought it was the shock so they replaced it. still didnt fix the problem. i figured out it only happened with the parking brake on and took it back and they adjusted the parking brakes. gonna pick up the car soon. hope that solved the issue.

I don't think leaky struts just go for the F. My buddy took in his is250 for a leaky front passenger side strut. They took care of it with no questions asked (as they should with a vehicle under warranty).

Is this pretty obvious after taking the wheels off?

Struts on an F? Sounds pretty foolish for a double wishbone suspension. I'm personally quite happy we don't have struts...

Yep - Lexus has a TSB out for squeaking brakes, I guess they have different pads and hardware which resolves the squeaking issue with light braking. I don't know the exact year but ive heard of people being turned down if the pads are worn down too far. I'd recommend asking "the brakes are squeaking - is there anything you do?" I also had them adjust a couple personalization settings for free while it was there :-)

The manager did say they wouldn't install headers :-( guess that will be a project for a different shop :-)

Way back in 2006, there was a guy who had his rear shocks on an IS350 die with less than 6k on the odometer. It happens. This is why we're glad we have warranty service. If it were Ferrari, it would be normal maintenance.

my is250 had a strut replaced at around 15k and its having another one replaced now at 45k, this time around im on fsport springs...they tried to give me a hard time about it but I pointed out its a Lexus part AND before the springs I was having the same issues. They quickly approved the repair, im waiting on my new dashboard to come in before I take it in though.

these dash boards melt after a few years, look it up on the 2IS fourms. After awhile they become super sticky and anytime you touch them they basically get imprinted and peices start to come off slowly. The rubber was a bad idea for Florida and other hot states.
