Default Possible to Change 2008 ISF Grey Navigation Face to the Black 2009+ Face

I was wondering if it was possible to change the 2008 navigation face which is grey to the newer black navigation face. I like the look of the black one much more but ended up picked up a 2008 ISF since it was cheaper

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm trying to change the face of the nav only NOT the entire navigation system

^^ the buttons look like they are all in the same position and it looks like just the face of the navigation can be separated since its only held by a few screws i believe

I would like to do the same thing because the newer models even stream BT audio which is by far one of the best features. IMO

I'm thinking swapping out the 2010+ navigation is going to be very expensive if it is even possible...but my original question was whether or not we could just swap out the face of the nav

Sorry to bring bad news to all of you guys but this swap is not possible. I have taken both units apart from the car and the connectors are different, besides there are more connectors on one than on the other (don't remember which one).

Hey Juanca, i figured it wasn't possible to change out the whole navigation unit but is it possible to change just the face of the unit? From the 08 grey to the 09+ black?

^^^ I believe that is possible, but then you'd need to match the rest of the dashboard (A/C vents, etc.)

Juanca is correct and I personally don't think its worth the trouble. The color is called Piano Black by the way. The piano black vents are available through Think Design Japan = very expensive. They do not sell the center consol cover you guys are referring to. You can probably get it through Sewell?

This is the reason why I got the 09 when I searched. The piano black looks much better.

I definitely agree that the black looks better and sportier but for me personally I picked up an 08 for what I considered a very good price..I just missed out on an 09 and was kicking myself for that but am happy that I have an 08..just not so happy with the grey trim

Keep in mind that there are some differences between the 2 units:

1. The old ML system has a connector for XM Radio if you decide to buy the XM module, the new ML system as Sirius integrated.
2. The old ML system uses the same XM connector for the iPod adapter in case you decide to but it (you can't have XM Radio and iPod at the same time), the new ML system has an integrated USB connector so you can attach iPods, thumb drives, etc.

So who's going to fork out, what is it $7-8k for the unit, just to experiment? Who is this someone?
