Default EGR Delete - has anybody looked into this?

Ok guys i just wanted to throw this out there. I am currently trying to develop a complete egr delete for my isf. I think there is just way to much clutter in the engine bay. I did this on my GTR and was very happy. This would not trigger your cel as i would be using resistors to simulate the egr units. I am not going after performance more esthetics. I am aware of the fact that this might yield a few ponies. I will be trying this out in my personal f. Has anyone done this already?

Mike

And the point of this would be to what? You cant even see the egr valve when the engine cover is on. And between you and I... There would be little to no performance gains with this delete as the egr valve is ONLY open under partial throttle applications at cruising speeds where the vehicle is producing significantly less than 100hp.

@DCoolBeans
I think you can kiss your warranty good bye with the addition of headers.

although you might be able to scare the small service rep with your huge muscles.

Hahaha That was a good laugh...I needed that.

Um duh, I got the headers in stealth black.....so that means they can't see em

Searched the forums and found this:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...gr-delete.html

I understand that they are totally different cars, but still the same concept should be applied since our cars have VVT-i... Either way, good luck with your research and keep us posted!

What EGR? The 2UR-GSE doesn't have one. Toyota uses cam timing to do this now. It's way easier to do with software than it is to do with hardware. EGR valves went the way of the dinosaurs quite some time ago.

Our engines do have a more complicated form of egr. They are located towards the back of the engine by the firewall. They have multiple coolant lines and a single two pin plug. I have done the same mod to my gtr and love the results.

No there isn't anything specifically used for EGR besides the cam timing. Nothing. Nowhere in the service manual or the new car features is there any mention of EGR control outside of cam timing. Just because Nissan decided to do it their way does not mean Toyota is doing the same thing, especially when you consider EGR on a boosted engine vs. an NA engine.

There is absolutely NOTHING on the 2UR-GSE you can remove to disable EGR.

The thing you are referring to with multiple FUEL lines and a connector is the purge system for the evaporative emissions.

Actually these headers were installed by a Lexus dealer.

but does that mean they will cover it under warranty. If so i will get my lexus dealership to install mine for me instead of a more trusted performance shop. My only concern is that my lexus dealership is going to want to charge me to hell.

Lobuxracer is right, most cars use variable cams to avoid the need for EGR valves now a days. I'm surprised GTR even uses an EGR valve.... is that really true?
