Default ISF over 4000 rpm bad smell?

I have a 2008 ISF with 55K miles. I don't drive the car "hard" very often. In the past week I have pushed the car off the line to the point that it gets over 4000 rpm and "the roar" brings a smile to my face. Unfortunately, it's also bringing a bad smell into my nose, and that stink permeates the car for 30 seconds to a minute to dissipate. Anyone have any ideas?

Its probably your catalytic converters. Run it hard til it starts smelling, stop and look under the car to see if the cats are glowing because theyre probably clogged.

If its a sulfur/rotten egg smell then its "normal" and its the cats.

You kinda just answered your own question. Since you don't get on her regularly, the cats accumulate all that caca. Then when you mash that pedal, more of that caca burns which is what you smell= normal

Solution=drive her like your supposed to!

Happens daily for me... I'll be sitting in stop and go traffic for 35+ minutes and then I'll get to the hwy that's next to my house and get on it. Get that nasty smell in my car each time but the car feels so much better once you "clear" it out

Interesting phenomenon is.........after installing the ISS Forged DES exhaust system (that removes the 3rd CAT) it immediately stopped all rotten egg smell/ sulfur at WOT.

...so in my mind it's 3rd CAT related as it has never returned.

Judging from the carbon build up on the tips and my bumper it just throws twice as much ash and soot into the atmosphere!

Hey Digger FYI, there is no 3rd cat, the ISF has 2 primary cats which are attached to headers and 2 secondary cat. When installing aftermarket catback exhaust such as ISS or Joe-Z you remove the secondary cats, so I think you meant 2 secondary cats.

Use in-cabin charcoal filter and all windows closed would solve the sulfur smell problem.
