Default Lesson Learned about extended warranty coverage on 08 ISF

I purchased an 08 ISF 10 days ago and the previous owner was nice enough to give me the heads up the factory warranty will expire on 6/7/12. I rushed it over to Keyes Lexus in Sherman Oaks, Ca to have them inspect the car for me. The car is in perfect condition except they replaced the battery and front right shock all under warranty and than yesterday my driver side xenon headlight went out and also covered by warranty. This made me really consider purchasing the lexus extended platinum warranty so went upstairs to talk to the finance guy about purchasing one. This is where the story gets real shady. The finance manager first offers me a 4 year 50,000 mile warranty for four thousand dollars effective immediately. He's willing to go as low as 2995.00 and keep in mind this a third party warranty with a 50.00 deductible and said I wouldn't qualify for the Lexus premium warranty. Really? I leave his office and begin my research by contacting Lexus corporate and searching clublexus. This manager basically lied to me after learning that I certainly qualify for a lexus premium warranty since my factory warranty hasn't expired and contacted Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota in Kansas who I found here on CL.. We spoke and I purchased a 8 year 75,000 lexus premium warranty for 1742.00. This gives me exactly four years of the Lexus platinum extended warranty. I highly recommend Jerry and so grateful to the club lexus forums. My local dealership was ready to hose me with an overpriced third party warranty.

I also purchased an extend warranty (100k) from Jerry. One for my 2008 IS-F and another for my wife's 2010 Prius.

My car hit 50k the other day and I was very happy to have the warranty. I had a repair done, no charge, no hassle, Lexus loaner.

Thanks Jerry, for the affordable warranty

Quick question, you went to Keyes Lexus which is near NorthRidge CA, but you got an extended warranty from KS. Does that mean you can get your maintenance and recall done anywhere around you?

Pretty sure, since it will be in the Lexus system showing you have the warranty.

@misterskiz.. no i didn't notice anything weird while driving. Service said the shock was leaking fluid so they replaced under warranty.

Since it is a lexus warranty ISF can be serviced at any lexus dealership in the U.S. and Canada. The third party warranty I was offered would only tow up to forty miles to keyes lexus for service plus a 50.00 deductible for any warranty claim..

I just looked up an old thread regarding this and Jerry is the man! I told him today I would spread his name along but he looks pretty popular already.. Just noticed my cigarette lighter has no power to charge phone.. Back to the dealer and thank goodness for warranties.

I might have to look into this Jerry guy since I'm already approaching 80K miles on my F with no warranty on it... Don't think I need it but its just nice to know that its an option for an affordable price

Don't think you can get the Lexus warranty once you are out of factory warranty. Sorry.

I called Aram, the finance manager at keyes lexus and politely and calmly told him how I canceled his third party warranty and found a platinum lexus extended, no deductible warranty for 1345.00 less. He acted suprised that I was able to get a lexus warranty even though I was under the 4 year 50K mile factory warranty on my 08 ISF. This just doesn't sit well with me that the finance manager would not have this basic knowledge and sell me a third party warranty with limitations and a 50.00 deductible for the 3,000K. He started at 4,000. Does he make more commission by selling third party warranties? I purchased my 98 lexus GS400 there and have been a 10 year customer and considering calling the GM over there and letting him know my experience but probably take the higher road and grateful I found Jerry Johnson here on CL. The best thing I can to do is warn fellow Lexus owners about keyes lexus for extended warranties.
