Help plz with tire pressure sensor!!
Hi! I recently slapped on my tires on an after market rim but the problem is that the valve stem hole on the after market rim is tiny and it won't fit my OEM Valve stem with a sensor on it. Does any one have this problem? Is there any option I can fix this?
Do you really have a different size valve stem hole?..... I thought there was a standard fitment size (.453 diameter) that is universally accepted? The angle of the sensor on the rim edge or depth of the rim is usually the reason.
A reputable tire shop may also be able to bore out the hole larger or you can also try a universal strap and TPMS clip system that will hold the sensors to each barrel.
FYI - I made a TPMS pressure vessel so i could run my rays valve stems/ I did not trust the strap barrel system - It is not as easy as the DIY suggests and took me at least 4 prototypes to get it correct. It takes some time to correctly set the pressure and initialize the vehicle as well to prevent expansion and contraction that happens during seasonal changes in Canada.
Just do not expect to knock out this project on the first try - it will take few weeks to get it right and you will need access to a cooperative dealer or Toyota Techstream to register your new or second set of sensors (as you will be sealing a set in the simulator) You will not want to be opening this thing up every spring once you get it right. You can also try a set of EZ sensors that clone your original transmitting ID's - these may or may not fit better and can be a lot cheaper than buying a second set of sensors.

CrzKush. Where are you located. I have a set of aftermarket TPMS sensors that came off my wedsport rims. They are slightly smaller than the OEM i believe...You can try them out if you like...

There is a system out there that you can instal "clone" sensors in your aftermarket wheels. if you pm me a pic of your wheels I will tell you which ones will fit.
