COMPLETE ISF Intake Comparison Review

I have many doubts about that assessment. I think it's quite telling the RC F uses the exact same filter the IS F does and it makes considerably more power. I really doubt filters and tubes on the intake side are a significant difference.
Maybe throttlebodies...

I'm just going off my personal experience. I don't doubt you get more from exhaust mods or maybe throttle bodies, but each to their own.
Be interesting to see how the RR Titanium gets on. Should be good for keeping intake temperatures down if nothing else. Doesn't hurt it looks awesome as well!

Fair point.

The outlet size where the MAF sits has now been up sized from 3.25" to 3.5"
(More or Less)
Having a smooth turbulent free intake pipe into the throttle body has to help somewhat..
And yes I agree the engine air filter element is exactly the same all the way from 2008

The new RC F / GS F boxes were tweaked just a little...

Obviously it's your call, but the OEM intake piping isn't the best design for smooth flow rates.
You've got some choices nowadays too.
Joe Z, HPS, RR-Racing (including the rather lovely titanium version! ).
The intake pipe can be improved is all i'm saying.
I'd recommend it having had experience with quite a few setups on my car.

Any issues over time with oiled filters and a cars MAF is usually easily sorted by giving the MAF a shot of intake/carb cleaner to clean any residue or deposits off the sensor. Even the slightest amount of residue will allow dust to build up on the sensor.
Just installed a k&n panel filter in the stock box on my is220d today as its been overdue a filter change. Had a mahle filter previously which (imo) is one of the better stock type replacements available for cars (well here in europe anyway).
As for everyone talking intakes.. I have built a few of my own from scratch on previous cars and the only two setups that consistantly work well and outperform a standard airbox for mpg and torque are either a cold air intake or a ram air intake.. With ram air being top of the food chain. Short ram or other open filter in engine bay intakes are only good for noise.

I've had K&N oiled filters in many cars and only a few times did I have oil problems with the MAF. Call it a learning curve.
1st-Don't over oil, it's very easy to do.
2.-Oil the filter from the outside, never inside.
3-Give the filter a shot of compressed air
This has worked for me.

Q: I bought my car with the K&N intake on it, if I buy the Takeda do I also need to find a stock airbox to go with it? I don't have the stock airbox anymore, never had it.

Is anyone interested in trying the takeda intake for the RC-F on their IS-F? It looks like the airbox is sealed, finally. Although, as mentioned, the maf diameter is different so it might not be plug and play with an IS-F.
