So my good friend bought her 2009 isf 6 years ago with 12k miles. She has given all oil changes maintenance etc. Car currently has 105k miles and her starter died!

So shes going to have the starter replaced ($2300!) apparently starter is in a weird location..go figure.

she wants to get rid of the car after she does the starter. shes gonna take it to carmax and i offered her $1,500 over carmax offer to buy it from her (figured its a win/win.) Im expecting to pay around $18k for the isf.

The question is...anything i need to look for. All services have been done. she bought a extended warranty that just ended and she never used for the last 6 years! Its been bulletproof.

What do i need to look for in a ISF? Any major problems with the higher mileage isf? Starter will be new.

in terms of mods...i LOVE the new led tail light mod..that will be first one that i do. What other easy mods do you guys recomend?

Looking forward to this and really excited about the isf!

It's to bad you couldn't have added headers to that deal since one side of the manifold has to come off to get to the starter like you stated.

Ask her if she's changed the valley plate, this would be the next biggest thing. Water pump is another that comes to mind.

As for mods xforce exhaust is pretty good for the money. Alot of people change the intake hose and use a drop in dry air filter. Guess it just really depends on what you'd like to do to the car. It's a great car to mod and once the itch starts....it's hard to stop

Look where the transmission and engine meet for a pink residue, that could indicate the valley cover is leaking which is a expensive fix. Check the harmonc balancer to see if the belt drive is getting tired(Just got mine at 183k and it had failed) Motor mounts may be bad(sometime they fail as early as 50k).

ok car has 104k miles. i will be paying $22k. the body does need some work.

so all oil changes were done timely.

spark plugs havent been done. im thinking of doing spark plugs. anything else?

That's what I paid for mine with the same mileage just a few months back, still a good price IMO. I would do the plugs but wouldn't change anything else unless it needs it. Female owned she probably never dogged that car. got some pics?

Eh, thats kinda silly to say without knowing exactly what he means by body work.

If its extensive body work, yea prob skip it, if it needs a front bumper sprayed because of rock chips, kinda comes with the territory of 100k mile soft *** paint ISF's and not really a huge expense.

I disagree that there are plenty of clean cars out there for less. ISF's are pretty rare in general and finding an actual nice one in the 22k range is not easy IMO. Of course it also depends on how picky you are with years/colors etc, I need ultrasonic blue so that made my search a lot harder and eventually decided I needed 2010+ for the LSD which added to the issue. All said and done to find a 2010+ USB car I think I was looking at 2 of them listed nationwide lol.

Within 500 miles of me there is only 1 car below 22k and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole, structural damage on carfax, awful wheels, etc.

The other ones a bit above 22k dont seem too appealing either. Accident reports. 6 owners in boring silver etc.

So to find a local ISF and know who owned it the majority if its life, know its history, maintained well, major expensive repair just done on the starter which is something he could potentially get stuck with if he buys a different older ISF, know the car wasnt beat to death, 22k seems like a very fair deal to me.

I agree on the mileage, these cars are built very well, 100k miles is nothing.

Body work isnt too bad. just a small dent. my friend purchased the car with 12k miles as a cpo and got a 6 year 125k mile warranty. Now here is the crazy thing...she never used the warranty for anything major as noting broke down. 6 months after the warranty ended, her starter died! So she has Lexus in Santa Monica install a new starter last week.

She wanted to get rid of the car as she doesnt like cars without warranty. Carmax offered her 20k and she was going to list it for 24k. i swooped in and offered her 22k!

Only thing that currently scares me is the mileage. But if you guys think 103k miles is not something to worry about i wont.

I will def get the valley plate checked and get new spark plugs. anything else for the 100k miles service you guys recommend?

And yea, 100k miles on these cars is nothing, there was one that had 333k miles the other day listed and sold, running perfectly lol

thats so awesome to hear! omg your right about pdr. i'll get it check out once i take ownership.

BTW i cant believe this car has 416 horsepower. thats incredible! My 2008 v8 aston martin vantage roadster only has 380! anyways i dont think i can go wrong with the car and the price. and i wont loose too much money on it if i do sell in a few years. no way this will dip in the teens, cause of that special engine.

yes, the ISF is a special car and they run pretty damn good, with headers and intake my old ISF walked away from a 465 hp 2016 ATSV on the highway

I also agree there, well maintained ISFs arent going to lose much value if any in the upcoming years.

gotcha, grey is a nice color, I think grey would have been my second choice behind ultrasonic blue.

I think a lot of people tend to shy away from some of the more boring colors like black and silver.
