I keep a 2010 Porsche 997.2 GT3. I admit the torque on the ISF may be overwhelming. I think I'm just very used to driving manual for more precise control.

those are AWD correct? that might be the reason you don't feel as confident in the F with its RWD. Also the F is a fat ***** at 3800 pounds lol

 

Nope, only the Turbo's are AWD. GT3's and GT2's are all RWD. I realize I far prefer the NA cars for track work over the Turbo cars. I've gone through a 2008 997 TT, 2007 997.1 GT3 RS and a 2004 996 GT3 recently.

I am curious to give the ISF a run on the track with proper tires and alignment. My wife wants me to love this car as much as she does. However, I do find the ISF is the best looking car comparing to the M3 and C63.

Do give the F a run on the track. while it wont be like the GT3. i think you will be pleasantly surprised considering it weighs 1000 pounds more than the Porsche

Since he asked, here's my track vid of the F: (keep in mind it's no GT3, and I'm a novice at the track!!!)

 

If you're unhappy with the F, you would have been unhappy with any of your options. The F laps VIR faster than all of them (and faster than a Cayman S). Expecting any of the cars you mentioned to feel like a GT3 is silly at best. Just one question though - where were the fast guys in your videos? I didn't see any, you included. I've been right seat in a 2004 GT3 at Roebling Road and Carolina Motorsports Park with a gentleman owner on PSCs, not even one of the real racers, and we went considerably more quickly through the fast turns.

The F at the track is a heavy sedan, just like the rest of the class. It understeers and gets unsettled on uphill braking sections. It can be hard on brakes (probably not at SIR or whatever they're calling it now, there's not much hard braking on that track), but it doesn't have traction issues any greater than its competitors. Your complaints are driver and tire problems, not car problems.

 

Apples and Oranges... you cannot set your expectations for the F based on your GT3 experience. Too totally different beasts. Compared to others in its class (sports sedans) the ISF holds up very well. As a former 996 guy myself the Porsche is a very unique beast having a 38%F / 62%R rear biased weight distribution with the engine hanging right over the rear tires. (ISF F54% / R46%)Plus you are talking a huge difference in tire size. I'm guessing the GT3 is shod with 305's and the F with stock 255's. You are also talking about 297 lb/ft torque in the GT3 and 371 lb/ft in the F.

No, I am not expecting the F to handle like a track prepped GT3. That is ludicrous.

Good to hear your experiences with the F and relative performance. I have no idea of the GT3's driver's ability, or setup, or yours, so I can't fairly make a comment. I care less about absolute speed and lap times than my connection with the car. This is my issue with the F at the moment.

My videos are for my memories with friends. Not a who's faster than who video. I track often and run in upper intermediate/advanced groups. My goal is to enjoy track time, friends, and be able to make it home in one piece in the same car. No interest to push my limits and shave off seconds each lap. I shared videos since I asked for some F track videos.

Good to know you find no traction issues on the F. I'll figure out if it's tires, alignment or me soon enough.

Yes, torque and modulation of gas is probably something I should adjust to.

I will sign up the F for a track day this year in my local advanced group and make a video. Maybe some bonding time will solve my issues.
