I looked into a 996 TT when I was car shopping. But it came down to luxury, comfort, features. IMO the interior in the F is way more advanced, and it should be, it's nearly 10 yrs newer than a 996. Also reading up on the RMS failure like UCrazyKid mentioned, I was hesitant to continue pursuing a Porsche.

I would say if you're a track head and don't care much for features and 4 doors, and are willing to take the risk, go for the Porsche.

I'd be concerned about intermediate shaft bearing issues for sure. Cost to track will be more too. Porsche consumables are not inexpensive at all, so if you're planning to beat it up on track, make sure you've adequately budgeted for it.

Porsche says 0-60 in 4.1 and a top speed of 196. With a good driver in the F, I am not sure the GT2 is going to smoke the Samurai.

Don't forget about the insurance difference if there is any. Factor in ALL COSTS:
Maintenace (oil changes, tires, brakes, water pump, etc. no matter how small)
MPG (gas prices)
4 seats vs 2 seats
Replacement / upgrade parts cost + labor
community / forum help
Also you will automatically become a Porsche douche. Just Kidding.

No offense to Porsche owners here, but the first impression I got from them when I posted on rennlist.com, was some of them are old and snobby people. I also considered a 08 Cayman S before I went with the ISF, and created a thread to ask for feedback on maintenance and common repairs.

Maybe my mistake was telling them my age... I was 23 when I "officially" started shopping for my 2nd car, and more than half the people in the thread insisted I was too young and that I should do other things with my money. What's the point of a forum if people are going to try to steer you in another direction? Some were helpful but most of them gave me a really bad impression of Porsche owners.

There is a clear difference between the helpful people on here and the Porsche owners that I encountered online.

^^^ there is a lot of young lex owners. I'm 25
I am keeping the F.

On a track the F stands no chance. The gt2 weights almost 1000 lbs less... And is a race car all the way around. A good driver in a new 911 4S will trash an F on the track forget a gt2

This is truth. I love driving my F at the track, but it's not in the same ballpark as any modern 911 based Porsche. Even the Cayman will run away and hide if you're not working REALLY hard to stay on pace.
