Intakes were all a go at 0.005", and no go at 0.008". Perfect.

My exhausts were all a go at 0.009", a go at 0.011", and no go at 0.012" save one which was at a very tight 0.012". Not at all worth the hassle of adjusting, especially since I figure if I did a couple of really good WOT runs, or a track weekend, and then measured, they'd all be well inside spec.

Fully validated parts list for anyone who plans to do this. If you are under 100k miles, most of this won't be necessary. If you are over 100k miles, you should replace everything on this list.

11193-38030 = 8 - Gasket Spark Plug Tube
23224-38010 = 2 - Gasket Fuel Pump Spacer
23915-46011 = 2 - Insulator Fuel Pump
23279-74010 = 4 - Gasket Fuel Pressure (Pulsation Damper)
11229-38030 = 2 - Gasket Cylinder Head Cover No. 3 (Valve cover oil filter)
11159-0P010 = 2 - Gasket Camshaft Bearing Cap Oil Hole No. 1
11159-0S010 = 2 - Gasket Camshaft Bearing Cap Oil Hole No. 2
90301-A0029 = 4 - O Ring (Oil Drain Pipe)
11213-38060 = 1 - Gasket Cylinder Head Cover No. 1 RH
11214-38040 = 1 - Gasket Cylinder Head Cover No. 2 LH
90301-09028 = 1 - Oil Tube O-Ring (dipstick tube)
90210-08045 = 6 - Washer, Seal
15678-46020 = 2 - Filter (for the exhaust cam oil control valve)

I also damaged a couple of wiring harness "protectors" in the process. Finding the part numbers for these can be really challenging. Many techs do not bother to replace the broken parts even at the dealership because it's easier just to tape it up and move along.

While you are ordering all that stuff, get the sparkplugs too. They're due at the same interval as the lash inspection on the '08.

So what did you end up doing for the wiring harness protectors?

There are a number of these under the hood. Do you mean specifically the big one or some of the other less likely ones? I replaced the big one and the one for the MAF wire on mine. The rest of mine are in good shape, but I have never removed the big one to do the valve lash inspection. That would be dumb. FWIW, the factory procedure is dumb because they say the intake manifold needs to come off and it absolutely does not.

Whatever you replaced, if it's easy for you to post, don't go into too much work

I'm having valve inspection done soon by my friend, I think he'll follow your advice to do the work easier and quicker

Check this post for the three wire harness pieces I replaced besides the big one on top.

Has anyone else done a valve adjustment on this car? I'm coming up on 60k miles and judging by lobuxracer's findings, i am thinking i can skip the valve adjustment. i know every engine is dofferent but with a larger sample size, it would be easier to judge whether or not it's needed at 60k miles.

One of the downsides to posting links to information instead of just posting the information here is that we have no control over what happens to the link. That link ^^ is now a dead end. This link has some information, but IIRC our plugs are 16mm flat seat, which isn't specified in the chart. I guess it can be deduced based on the 14mm and 18mm values (and we have aluminum heads right?), but 35 foot-pounds is my best guess. EDIT: Wrong. See lobuxracer comment below. Hand-tight plus 1/4 to 1/2 turn may be sufficient, but who knows.

THANK YOU! purchasing an 09 with 115k. inspection on the vehicle history shows it was done at 65k and no issues. going to have an independent shop do it where my buddy whos a master tech will handle it personally plus the other suggested 120k services while im out of town.

thank you again!
