Maybach 57S interior: Inspired by Lexus IS-F
Our silver carbon trim... I don't believe there was any other production car before the IS-F that had it from the factory. Well lookie here, guess who decides to follow suit with the same trim to make their cabin "special"?

The diamond stitching has been used on hot rods for years. Everything old is new again. Maybe the floor mounted high beam switch will make a comeback.
I had one car with the windshield washer "pump" mounted on the floor. The pedal started the wiper motor and the fluid was squeezed out of a rubber bladder under the pedal. Worked great until you forgot to use blue windshield fluid in the winter.

The material used in the IS-F, is actually called "Silver Texalium"

So what is Texalium, and how is it different than carbon fiber? Texalium was developed by a company based out of California named Hexcel. It’s a fiberglass-basic fabric that has a proprietary finish and a thin coating of aluminum on the surface. The aluminum coating is 99.99% pure and approximately 200 angstroms in thickness (One angstrom is one billionth of a meter). This coating produces the highly reflective surface. Texalium fabrics are woven in 2/2 twill, and standard roll lengths are 100 yards.

It's nice but it still looks like a dressed up version of the previous generation s-class which the car car is basically made out of.... Still an amazing car though

Also that ES would cost about $100,000.
But that's getting OT.
Yes, I'm aware it's Texalium but it's just easier to type Carbon. Also more people would know what it means. Nobody's ever stepped into my car and said, "Cool Texalium trim, man!"
I am certain we'll see more non-black Carbon...err...Texalium trim for future luxury car interiors. I'm just glad every time we'll see that we can say proudly, "I had that on my car first."
