Default Talk me off the edge... considering GT-R

Alright fellow 'F'ers'... Talk me down... I'm VERY close to pulling the trigger on a GT-R... Specifically looking at 2010 low mile car (less than 5,000 miles)... and looking to replace the F with the GT-R.

First I must say.... I love my F! I haven't owned a car for more than 6 months in 5 years... (And this F has broken that record at 1 year so far). I can't find any flaws in my F... I really enjoy driving it every day... love running 12.5's in the quarter... love getting 22MPG driving to and from work... love having 4 doors for the kids... love crushing M3's from stop light to stop light... or from a roll...

BUT... the GT-R 'has a back seat too'... can probably get about 19MPG on my commute... is really cool... and seems like something I should consider.

I would however be driving this car every day... (not going to have 'a beater' for too and from work... like driving my car too much.

Thoughts?

Dave

Dave,

I'm considering the same thing but planning on retiring first.

I'd wait until the 2012 GT-R becomes affordable.

I enjoy my gtr as much as I do primarily because I don't daily drive it. It is for sure doable and many do, but between the routine maintenance, loud brakes, loud tranny, etc... It wouldn't be my favorite. I would also be very surprised if you saw 19 mpg (if that really matters to you). The good news is there are some crazy deals out there so if you buy it right and decide it's not for you, you should be able get out of it without much harm...good luck!

Agreed, get the GTR. After seeing the huge performance difference first hand, and the "relatively" low price vs performance, 99% of the cars on the road cannot touch it.

Write down pros and cons of each. Use a point system. Whom ever scores the highest wins.

With that said, GTR FTW!!!

Then again, I'm 21. You sound like an older more established person. When it comes down to it, what would make YOU most happy?

What he said. Drive the F for a few more years until the 2012 GT-R is affordable. There seems to be a pretty big difference between the 2010s and 2012s.

I'd also wait for the new GT-R. With your kids, it would be rather mundane to constantly shift the seats for them to sit in the back. Other than that, there's nothing that can sway you NOT to get one. It is quite a performance vehicle!

heres one thing that will keep you in the F: its more luxurious than the GTR.

But in all ernest, if you could afford it, get the GTR. Seems you would be able to really push the GTR to its limit and you only live once
