The emblem itself is not an integral part of the precollision system. There is a box behind it that im sure is. A mesh grille may not affect the performance, but it is going to be up to someone to try it.

You can try, but people in the Mercedes world have try that and that does interfere with the radar, anything that is no perfectly smooth will scatter the radar rays and mess up with the radar cruise control and PCS. Pretty much the only thing you can do is paint the round logo. Kinda like that (see the little square on the grill)

Testing it would be pretty simple. Just throw some mesh behind the original grill temporarily and see if it has any affect. I may have to find some mesh and test this out.

Thats a nice mercedes.

i really dont care about the pre collision part of my car, but having that adaptive cruise control is a feature that i have grown quite fond of...

and i cannot say that i particularly like that Mercedes grille w/ the black square...and i am in awe that nobody else has the PCS and custom grille/logo combo done on this forum!

Be careful with the PCS, it's powerful stuff, I experienced it twice with my GS450h, it'll pull your seat belt and prime the brakes, it can be very surprising and honestly dangerous if it trigger randomly.

Looks great! I would move the F emblem up just a little bit so it's centered top to bottom...Darshana S...

Trickle down effect.

Thats how it started out, but it looked strange to me and some friends in person. Finally I took a hi rez shot and played around with it in photoshop 'cause I was sick of cutting more 3m tape. I found i like it there best. The body matched grill makes a huge difference. Not something you would think would.

I was just looking at how to do this. Taking everything apart seems straightforward. Cutting a custom piece of black mesh material shouldn't be too big of a deal.

But how did you guys attach the custom mesh piece to the grille surround? The stock grille with the "L" emblem seems to be quite intricate and bolts onto the chassis (or at least that's what the pictures suggest).

Dv8tion388, can you tell me where you purchased your mesh? All I can find locally is stuff that is equivalent to chicken wire.

These guys rock for all kinds of sheet metal. If you're in NorCal, I would highly recommend visiting them, they'll have just about anything you want.

You're looking for ALUMINUM 3003 H14 EXPANDED

Does no one have a USB w/ color matched USB painted grille? I really want to see what that would look like in pictures rather than just me imagining what it would look like lol.

Reason I ask is I have a debate going on between color matched grille vs. black pearl grille.

I don't think that a colored matched grille would look good. Have someone photoshop it for you.
