Default Opinion needed on my first "mod"

Let's see what you guys think

I miss the "CSL diffuser" look from my E46 M3. In an effort to get a similar effect, I was thinking of applying 3M Dinoc carbon fiber vinyl to the lower part of my bumper, kind of like what you see below. The only difference is that it would be "carbon fiber" instead of black.

Opinions welcome.

Here's someone with SGM that did something similar, and had a great idea to add a strip of weatherstripping to give it a more 3D look.

If my IS-F is white or silver or blue then I would consider it, however imo our SGM is too dark a color to do this on. Very few people beyond yourself would notice it. However if you like it enough then go for it.

i think the shadow effect would look better on darker cars. from the link IceIridium posted, that sgm looked really good with the strip outlining the exhaust area. subtle but had a nice impact. that being said, the starfire pearl would have an odd shadow, as i haven't seen something that matches that color even remotely close.

Thanks for the link! I think the effect works on SGM. Of course, I don't get the loud contrast than if I did it to a lighter car, I do like the stealthy subtle effect

You could definitely do this quickly and fairly easily. It's not a particularly tough mod by any means. Like you said, the CF tape is noticed more on the "lighter" colored cars but if you were do it, you'd still be able to see it, just not as well. There are quite a few F owners, including myself, who have done this

^^ I don't think we need a DIY on how to apply the weather stripping. I'm having a shop do the vinyl overlap.

My opinion on your first mod is: your car looks fine, get the JoeZ exhaust
