I feel sorry for the car behind you! I have the CF one and not the eBay one, so hopefully that one is stronger.. I haven't heard any flapping or sounds coming from the front.

there were no cars anywhere close to me, so that's why i decided to try it...
also, do this...go to your splitter and press down the very front and see if it flexes at all...

i'm sure the carbon ones will not flex as much
the ABS ones flap a lot...maybe i should make a vid of me moving it up and down...at high speeds i can imagine it flaps and then on a down-ward movement, the wind can catch it and that's when it'll just snap...

here's what was left of it after:

whoa!! u even managed to get a shot at that speed that's what surprised me!

i haven't gone that fast yet, and i don't think i need to duplicate the experience... i would say though the inexpensive splitters are good for taking a beating as long as there weren't any damage on the bumper. hope the bolts didn't tore the bumper.

A buddy of mine got the same one I think. I'll have to let him know what happens when you get going a little too fast. Sucks it happened but atleast everyone is safe especially the F.

Are you changing it to the CF version?

if he just cruises around, i'm sure it'll be fine...but for some of us, we just gotta open er up once in a while...and if you have these, i'm just saying to watch out...haha

if you look at a lot of those other splitters or lips that protrude out, they use braces...that's what these need...maybe i'll take pics of how much these bend...maybe it'll help other understand what actually happens at speeds...

Interesting this post came up today...
I was sitting around the other day trying to think of a more rigid DIY solution for splitters rather than CF or ABS. I thought I'd template out the shape and have my buddy cut it out of 6061 aluminum plate on his CNC machine, then wrap it in 3M CF vinyl (or whatever, powder-coat, bang can, etc). Pre-drill the holes for the nuts/bolts, and also use turnbuckle style mounts.

Open for discussion, feedback welcome!
