Your wheel looks really great! I like it. How well will that Alcantara hold up to the constant oils and sweat from one's hands etc.?

Alcantara is a synthetic material, and it's actually very durable - much more so than the suede people often confuse it with.

i believe suede is inexpensive leather made by splitting a piece of thick leather. the top layer is then used for clothing or other expensive goods, suede is then used for less expensive goods. the fiber is generally not as dense and much less durable compared to top grain.

This was a IS350 wheel I got from JavyLSU for $100! I got it wrapped at JPMCoachworks they charge $425 for the job. The trims, controls, airbag, paddle shifters where transfered from my stock IS-F wheel.

Overall a great unique mod that add a touch of European High-end sport car to the F!
Nice. JPM. No wonder it sounds familiar. I bought my S2000 shift boot from him. As a matter of fact, he's using a photo of my s2k on his site:

I wish our headliner was in alcantara. The M5 has it and it feels/looks amazing.

there is an ebay seller that make new steering wheel with new leather..and it's cheaper (100€)
link here: http://stores.ebay.de/Petersen-Project?_rdc=1
i think it makes good products, i'm going to send my is-250 steering wheel and they create very similar to is-f with perforated leather (but without "F" logo)
they do also with alcantara

that looks awesome! wonder if there is a way to have the bottom portion be like the stock wheel? with the 'F' and the non-perforated leather like the stock wheel??

Very nice job on the wheel. I would have gone a bit thicker like the M3 wheel!

i've seen a lot of pictures of is-f original steering wheel, in comparison with standard is-x50 steering wheel.

i've noticed also a difference in terms of smooth leather length on the bottom of the wheel.

In other words, is-f wheel is 3/4 perforated leather and 1/4 smooth leather, but this 1/4 portion of wheel is little than the 1/4 portion of standard is steering wheel.

can someone very kindly take a measurement of the length of is-f smooth leather 1/4?

here 2 pics:

^That is completely determined by how you upholster the wheel. The two wheels use different types of leather, and are obviously different on the oustide. If you're reupholstering the steering wheel, you can have the seams placed wherever you want. This thread is about timetoy's alcantara steering wheel, let's try and keep it on topic.

i know this, i was only asking if someone, with the original is-f wheel, could measure this distance and let me know how much is it, so i could reupholster it very similar to original is-f one.

sorry if i'm offtopic
