Good info on your gas & oil usage.!
Well I spent about 10 minutes with my engine this morning...
We all clearly have the Injector ticking sound, which is very prominent with the hood open and in the area next to the brake fluid reservoir. Normal.
I definitely do not have that "inconsistent" tapping sound that you guys are hearing near the driver side wheel area..
It almost sounds like its coming from the exhaust manifold or something...
What I would like for one of you to do is, try giving the gas pedal a few light revs while hearing that sound... It would be interesting to see if the sounds speeds up with the revs or if it stays the same or if it disappears..
Also, lets see what happens to that sound when you put a load on the engine.
Example: Switching from Park to Drive, but just sitting on the brake pedal.
Regards,
Joe Z

If they all do it, then it is almost certainly normal.
High performance engines, which the IS-F's engine most certainly is, often are noisier and bumpier and rumblier than luxury car engines, even if they are based on the same basic design.
The ramp rates on cam lobes and the clickety-clack of high flow injectors, a bit of slap from short-skirt pistons and so on, are just part of the fun.

If Lexus won't do anything to it, I'd say just drive the heck out of it and if the engine crashes let them put a new one in it. That's why you have the warantee (I have the extended warantee up to 100k miles).

My ticking under a rev gets slightly faster as I press on the pedal gradually. You can hear the inconsistant sound get faster then it sort of drowns out by actual engine sound.

i had a very similar sound coming from my 2004 S2000. Turned out to be the Timing Chain Tensioner (TCT). I bought a new one from the dealer for ~150 which solved the problem. Worth looking into...

I would say it wouldn't hurt to switch to a different brand of gas in the meantime...
Well we don't have many choices of Octane here in the US (per state)
Example:
In Cali, you mainly find 87, 89 & 91.
In NY, you mainly find 87, 89, & 93.
These are just the Basic/Avg Octane levels, different gasoline vendors can cary an extra higher grade where available.
I'm running Chevron 91 Oct, still with the JDM regular factory oil..

Metal clicking sound and does not increase when revving? Could it be your belts or pulleys making the sound? Maybe the alternator?

After that I'm inclined to agree with the cam chain tensioner fault. A loose valve continues to tick regardless of rpm. Your noise definitely goes away with a little rpm. There are four chains driving the cams, and four tensioners. One could be bad.
