Let's keep track of disc wear too. Often low dust pads will wear the discs faster. I've got a set of street and track Carbotechs for the F. I'll be using the track pads this weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park, so I'll have to put the street pads in before Monday. I'm very curious how fast these $300 rotors will wear with different pads.

The ceramics are not recommended for any kind of track use, they wont hold up to the heat. They are designed strictly for street use.

If you want to do any kind of tracking at least HP+ is recommended. HPS would be better than ceramics on a track but they still wont hold up top the heat.

These are not listed on Hawks site but we can any of the compounds for you IS-F owners. Ceramic, HPS and HP+. They only have the frotns right now though, no rears.

Just PM us if interested.

Ceramic pads won't wear out the discs faster, they give up stopping power. The ceramic content lets them cope with higher heat to a point, but then start to fade.

Pads with lots of metallic content eat discs. The bite translates to stopping power. Shedding metal disspates heat. Good for the track. Ugly dust.

Run a magnet over your rims. The dust is ferrous (iron). Your discs are in that dust, (and the metallic pad content).

Hawk has always been a top notch supplier of brake pads and high performance friction material. IMO the performance ceramics are a great alternative to the OE pads-they will dust significantly less with a tiny bit less of initial bite but still perform extremely well. If you want something that you can track occasionally or autocross with yet still have less the OE dust with better performance, the HPS is a great alternative. If you want a track pad with eye-popping stoppin power then go for the HP Plus. (be prepared for more dust and squeak on the street with HP Plus)

My 2 cents....

Doug
