Default I had iPod interface installed yesterday....

....only to find out that many of the functions become "greyed-out" once the vehicle is in motion. I guess I should have expected that knowing how much Lexus is committed to trying to manage your driving life. Also, the price tag as mentioned on the Lexus website is for the hardware only; the total installation cost is more than twice that price. Anyone else use the iPod interface and have any recommendations on how to set up the songs on the iPod to make playing easier? Thanks in advance and wishing you a good weekend!

oh man, never really follow dealership prices, i hope they didn't charge too much. installation isn't that hard at all, maybe 100 bucks? if they charge more...

anyway, you can use playlist to sort out the songs, is playlist grayed out too? in any case you should get the override kit, it allows you to use the navigation, play movies (if you have ml) and use the ipod any time. i have both the override and vaistech and i am very happy. just email chung@prestigioussociety.com for more info, i got it from them

Thanks for the information. I got "hosed" at about $350 labor. I will really rethink using the dealer for anything other than warranty issues after this. Even though I have playlists on the iPod Touch, I don't see that option on the NAV Screen. I see the folders (artist's names) and files (songs) within those folders and that's about it. I will check into the override for sure. Later....

play list should be available. hell i have had two different pioneer dvd/nav systems (avic-n2, avic-d3) before my ML and they both had the playlist available and that was before the over rides for motion sensor.

Thanks I will keep looking. Playlist may be one of those "greyed-out" functions.
