Remote starter for IS-F
My dealer (Woodfield) is now offering a remote starter for the IS-F.
This is my understanding of how it works: 1000' range, supposedly you hit the start car button on the remote, it starts the car (doors remain locked). It disables the Lexus remote, which means you have to hit the unlock button on the new remote in order to unlock the door (the sensor in the door handle won't work). Car stays on for 15 minutes, so if you don't get to it by then it turns off and you have to restart (I can't imagine letting my car warm up for 15 minutes!). Once you turn car off your Lexus remote works again. Installed price is $599 (before discount). Has anybody heard of this or had it installed? Any comments or feedback? I was thinking of getting it done on Monday. Thx, Dave |
Bredemann of Glenview offered me one when I first bought my IS-F. It sounded similar to that but more expensive if i remember correctly. Only thing I heard was that once you get in the car, you have to turn the car off to disable the remote start. Then turn it back on using your lexus key. I don't know if that's how all remote start systems work but it just sounded like a lot of turning the car on and off to me. I'm thinking about doing it with winter approaching though. Somebody please inform me how these things should operate...

It sounds like an aftermarket remote start to me. There's an OEM one but so far, I believe it cannot be programmed to U.S spec ECUs.

what brand? what features? Absolutely DO NOT buy it unless it's DEI, I wouldn't buy it. Visit this website to help you figure out: http://www.directed.com/
They will tell you, oh yeah this one is just as good or whatever... but they are not. Trust me, DEI has the best support, warranty, and has been the industry leader for decades. They continue research and have great customer service. Please, please do not buy anything but DEI. I have been installing almost anything into vehicles for the last 7 years and I have seen throughout the years. Most ppl will come back with the off-brand alarm/remote start and end up getting a DEI anyway. Just invest your money in this brand as it is well worth your money. Clifford is my personal favorite. Check amazon.com they have a combo alarm/remote start for around 200. GL. :D Hope this helps! |
It's an Audiovox. I believe it's this model: AARS40CS.
It's sold by Lexus (but installed by somebody else) and they say they stand behind it. 3 year warranty. Anybody ever have an Audiovox remote start installed on their keyless Lexus? Please let me know! PS, Here's the supposed feature list: AARS40CS Long Range Remote Start and Security System with Keyless Entry, Double Push Start Control, Selectable Engine Run Times, Chirps to Confirm Remote Starting, Anti-Code Grabbing Technology and Starter Disable Features: Up to 1,000 feet of range 2 Three Button programmable RF Transmitters Capable of accepting 2 additional transmitters External Superheterodyne antenna/receiver for up to 600 to 1000 feet range Parking light flasher (flash or on steady selectable) while running, after remote start Bypass Alarm during remote start 3rd Ignition control output Safe Start double push Start system Manual override switch Open engine compartment safety shutdown Foot brake shutdown switch High and low engine speed shutdown Gasoline or most diesel engines with automatic transmissions Anti-code grabbing technology 7 Function LED arm/disarm/zone1/zone2/zone3/valet/arming |
Someone has it on their IS-f
i think it was CaThaFeR, but i can be wrong. |
Honestly.. dont buy it... theres a brand call python security system.. and the remote works up to 1 mile range.. and it is also a very very good security system for your car.. if someone bumps it.. it will go off.. if they try to steal your car.. it will automatically kill the ignition.. they sell it at all circut cities

Please let me know! Audiovox/Lexus may say that they stand behind it, but the support or replacement probability is little to none. It will just be a hassle. Trust me. I won't be mad if you decide to go with Audiovox. I just know that you will be disappointed and frustrated once you have an Audiovox installed in your vehicle. Either way, GL. Check out the website I gave you before. Any one of those brands are available on amazon.com for about the same or less than the price that you are being charged for the Audiovox. Read some reviews on DEI product. Top of the line. ;) I wouldn't recommend something if it wasn't. Someone else's comment was "check out Python". This is a DEI brand. You catch my drift? |
Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to hold off for now.

Clifford all the way, best alarm there is and warranty! just my 02 cents
|
I'm not looking for an alarm. Only a remote start.
|
Does anybody have a remote start in their 2nd gen IS or ISF?
Please let me know. |
Just looking to see what you guys have done many years later without making a new thread.
|
I'd be interested to in seeing what some guys have installed on their F's. Have remote starts on my other 2 vehicles but they are the key in the ignition type.
