Default Intake Options

I know it will be a few months but since most of us will probably get a intake of some sort I feel the need to start a thread exploring different types pros and cons. I am going to look at getting a K&N drop in for the time being. Hopefully the developers will chime in also.

I know in the BMW M cars and MB AMG 63 intakes have a carbon filter that is pretty much used for emissons. Removing it yields 10-20rwhp. But while looking under hood at all the plastic covers i could not determine if there was a carbon filter. If anyone here knows the particulars of the IS-F intake system please discuss.

So let the discussion begin.

This will probably need to be a sticky mods.

The IS F has a special dual intake system. Not sure you could improve it too easily.

The IS-F might have a special dual intake but I kinda think its misleading. It doesnt have 1 intake per cylinder bank for instance. I think is just a valve that opens up at a % of load on the engine that provides extra air to the engine.

I still need to take it apart just to really understand what is going on there.

I am sure you can get more performance by just have a free flowing filter also

you lose hp in the beginning then gain hp at the high end. My car was used to test fit a Fujita Intake...and they couldn't really do anything with the car...cuz no one wants to buy an intake that gets you 1-2hp gain...haha Plus the dual intake is still nice...I like it when the valve opens up!
