Took a look under the car this morning having parked up a month ago for the winter, and noticed a few spots of cherry red fluid, on the drivers side cat and on the plastic splash guard, underneath the transmission. On closer inspection I think it’s perhaps a seal in some part of the transmission housing that’s weeping. I couldn’t see where else it would be coming from. Also didn’t find much info online of people experiencing a similar issue. If someone could take a look at the pics and suggest what might be the issue here, or what else I should be looking for, that would be appreciated. 2013 car and has 145k kms.
Mine looks identical and its the valley plate that is leaking on mine. You could confirm by a sniff test, coolant will have a sweet aroma while ATF has a very distinct odor.
Thanks for the help, much appreciated. I couldn’t see any signs of a leak in the engine bay, and the coolant level is just below the low line. I got some of the drips onto a paper towel and it didn’t smell of anything in particular but was very definitely pink, not red, on the paper towel. Same colour as the coolant for sure. I’ll get under the car properly on the weekend and get some of the plastic trays out of the way for a better look.
Coolant collects in the valley and typically the first place you'll see it run down is by the bell housing. You'll need a borescope to see the valley plate itself without removing the intake. Make sure you're keeping the coolant topped off, and its a good idea to address the issue asap.
